About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Lead Software Development Engineer to join our team in Durham, NC. Corporate IT at Labcorp is seeking a hands-on, expert-level Senior Software Developer to join our Clinical Development team. In this role, you will drive the development of cloud-based business and AI solutions within the healthcare industry. You’ll be part of a team enabling next-generation clinical workflows that integrate Generative AI, machine learning, and real-time data insights to transform patient care delivery. This position plays a key role in Labcorp’s mission to “help people live longer and healthier lives” by building advanced digital solutions—including clinical decision support tools, AI-powered services, and scalable infrastructure across AWS and Microsoft Azure. You’ll collaborate closely with data scientists, product managers, and business stakeholders to deliver high-performance, secure software solutions using modern architecture and design principles.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent field
  • 10 years of hands-on software development experience in multi-tiered, object-oriented systems
  • Advanced proficiency in C# and .NET
  • Experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Strong grasp of cloud native implementation using AWS (preferred) or Azure

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face, OpenAI APIs) is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Design, code, and enhance enterprise-grade applications using C#, .NET, and cloud-native technologies (AWS & Azure)
  • Develop and maintain AI-powered services, including Generative AI integrations and machine learning workflows
  • Work closely with the Data Science team to productize AI models and apply software engineering best practices for AI/ML deployments
  • Participate in the evolution and adoption of business AI accelerators to scale automation and analytics across the organization
  • Lead code reviews, enforce design standards, and provide mentorship to junior developers
  • Collaborate cross-functionally in agile teams to translate complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions
  • Drive innovation by leveraging emerging technologies and pushing the boundaries of healthcare IT
