About The Position

As members of our Student Support Team, social workers have the opportunity to shape a safe, responsive, and equitable environment where every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Our social workers partner closely with teachers, leaders, families, and community providers to ensure students receive comprehensive, high-quality care grounded in trauma-informed, culturally responsive practice. As the Lead Social Worker, you will serve as the clinical anchor for our school-based social work services through: Clinical Leadership & Supervision Serve as the clinical lead for school-based social work services, ensuring ethical decision-making and compliance with federal, state, and professional standards Provide clinical supervision and consultation, including oversight of LGSW practice and MSW intern development in alignment with licensure requirements. Guide complex case decision-making, including risk assessments, mandated reporting, crisis response, and coordination with external providers to ensure student safety and well-being. Maintain a limited caseload to ensure continued direct student impact, while protecting the time and capacity necessary to lead supervision, strengthen systems, and ensure compliance across the Student Support Team. Social Work Program Quality, Consistency & Best Practices Ensure high standards of clinical quality across the school, including oversight of assessments, documentation, intervention planning, and service delivery practices. Strengthen trauma-informed and culturally responsive practice through coaching, professional development, and real-time consultation with Student Support and instructional staff. Establish clear expectations for documentation, case management, and intervention approaches to ensure consistency, clarity, and impact. Systems Management, Sustainability & Compliance Support the development and sustainability of clinical systems, including participation in Medicaid billing processes and verification of documentation accuracy, as well as managing wellness referrals schoolwide Monitor data integrity and compliance requirements to ensure alignment with school, district, and regulatory expectations Partner with school leadership to strengthen systems, build staff capacity, and ensure long-term effectiveness of student support services.

Requirements

  • Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW); Valid in the District of Columbia
  • Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 3 years of school-based or youth-serving clinical experience
  • Demonstrated experience providing clinical supervision to social workers and/or MSW interns
  • Strong knowledge of trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and equity-centered practices in school or community-based settings

  • Experience supporting or participating in Medicaid billing and documentation processes preferred
