This Lead Shipping position provides direction to co-workers to ensure all shipping documents and functions are completed accurately and timely. The role involves selecting the least cost carrier and maximizing parcel weight by combining products for the same customer. Key functions include sorting packages, using a hand scanner for shipment status, and inspecting boxes for quality, proper sealing, labeling, and damage. The Lead Shipping individual is expected to demonstrate role model work habits, foster teamwork, enhance team morale, and provide constructive feedback and on-the-job training to employees. They will continually seek opportunities for operational improvement, encourage a clean work environment, and maintain certifications for operating departmental equipment, performing safety checks, and reporting machine problems to the Area Manager. Charging industrial truck batteries is also a duty. Employees are also expected to participate in safety and health program activities, including reporting hazards and incidents, wearing required personal protective equipment, and supporting safety committee activities.
