About The Position

The lead shelter advocate is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of the shelter; scheduling and supervising employees; scheduling guest transportation; performing intake and danger assessments; scheduling guest educational activities and outings; and performing all reporting of shelter activities. Requirements

• Associate’s degree in behavioral health, Social Work, Education or related field or two years’ experience in domestic violence and/or mental health related field may substitute for degree requirement
• Prior supervisory experience
• Willing and able to be to be on call 24/7
• Willing and able to lift, push, kneel, bend, reach overhead, and pull/carry up to 30 lbs.
• Must be certified to perform and score Danger Assessments and Ontario Domestic Assault Risk Assessments or obtain certifications within 90 days of hire
• Must be familiar with family violence, sexual assault and/or human sex trafficking issues
• Must be able to deal with potentially hostile and/or uncooperative individuals
• Must have project management/problem solving skills
• Requires a high level of personal integrity and ethics
• Must maintain client confidentiality at all times and be HIPPA/Privacy Act trained
• Must become CPR certified
• Willing and able to learn Indigenous Craftsmanship (Beading, sewing, etc.)
• Requires a high level of technical writing skills
• Requires willingness and ability to learn new skills, including travel to conferences
• Requires ability to use Microsoft Office Suite programs
• Requires good interpersonal communication and team work skills
• Must be able to pass a criminal background and drug/alcohol screening
• Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record – may be required to drive GSA or tribal vehicles
