About The Position

Jacobs Gas in Fort Myers, FL is seeking a top-class Lead Service Installation Technician to provide expert installation services and dedicated support to customers and team members. The Lead Service Installation Technician will play a crucial role in the installation, repair, and maintenance of propane equipment and tanks, in addition to leading and helping manage scheduled service work in Fort Myers and surrounding areas. To ensure success as a Lead Service Installation Technician, one should have sound mechanical knowledge, be able work in confined spaces for an extended period, have exceptional communication skills, and a passion for customer service.

Requirements

  • Proven work experience as a licensed Service Technician
  • Advanced knowledge of propane (LP) systems
  • Excavator experience
  • Willingness to learn and grow
  • Ability to solve problems and repair equipment on site
  • Ability to use a GPS to navigate to customer locations
  • Customer service oriented
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Class A or B CDL with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Propane & Natural Gas Technician Certification: Delivery, Tank Setters, Appliance Connection & Service Technician preferred

  • Position requires the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to heavy weights of 10 to 100 lbs. for approximately 90% of the work shift
  • Ability to regularly climb in and out of a service motor vehicle, multiple times per work shift
  • Good hand eye coordination, arm hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp and visual acuity to operate equipment is required, including at night
  • Frequent sitting, reaching with hands and arms
  • Must be able to speak and hear
  • Position is subject to pre-hire DOT medical certification requirements and drug and/or alcohol testing, as well as a physical abilities test performed by a company provider
  • Must pass pre-employment screening and background check
  • Position may require working evening hours and weekends as needed
  • Work is normally performed outside where exposure to conditions of extreme heat/cold, fumes, airborne particles and gases is common

Responsibilities

  • Travels to customers' homes or place of business to install, troubleshoot, and repair tanks, underground & interior gas piping systems, and equipment such as regulators, pool heaters, generators, water heaters, etc.
  • While on-site, serves as primary customer contact for service-related inquiries and questions
  • Site surveys – suggests areas where equipment should be set up
  • Tests old and new installations with approved testing equipment and properly documents results
  • Provides customers with verbal and written operating instructions for new equipment
  • Cleans up after the job is complete
  • Responsible for ensuring parts and related supplies are stocked on assigned vehicle(s)
  • Maintains the work vehicle and general maintenance of the vehicle
  • Assist with propane cylinder deliveries as needed
  • All other duties as assigned
