About The Position

As the Lead Security Specialist, you will oversee security initiatives for classified programs, including facility upgrades and new builds and their continued operation. This full-time role requires expertise in ICD 705 standards, TEMPEST requirements, risk mitigation strategies, and government compliance. Integrates cross-functional security disciplines (Industrial Security, SAP/SAR, SCI as applicable, Physical/Technical Security, Cybersecurity, Insider Threat, OPSEC, and Export/ITAR) to ensure compliance, mission readiness, and competitive advantage. Your work will be critical to protecting classified information and supporting GE Aerospace’s mission. The primary focus of this position will be in support of the GE Aerospace Peebles Facility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college or a high school diploma/GED with at least 4 years of relative experience
  • Knowledge of NISPOM/32 CFR Part 117, DoDM 5205.07 Volumes, ICDs, JSIG/RMF, and sponsor-specific directives; demonstrated success leading secure facility accreditations and classified IS authorizations
  • Active/current final DoD Top Secret clearance with ability to obtain and maintain SCI and SAP access as required by the program.
  • Risk Assessment and Business Acumen: The ability to identify, evaluate, and prioritize potential threats and vulnerabilities, and to develop strategies to mitigate these risks. Understand the internal and external factors that impact the organization including market trends, competitive landscape and regulatory requirements.
  • Information & Analytical Thinking: the ability to collect, analyze and interpret information from various sources to anticipate and counteract potential security threats, while thinking critically and analytically to solve complex security problems and make informed decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Physical Security Lead security initiatives for classified programs, including facility upgrades and new builds.
  • Ensure compliance with ICD 705 standards and TEMPEST requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and program teams to integrate security measures into project plans.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to protect classified information.
  • Maintain documentation and reporting in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide training and guidance to team members on security protocols and best practices.
  • Personnel Security (PERSEC) Oversee clearance processing, eligibility determinations, visit authorizations, and need-to-know validation; manage JPAS/DISS and associated personnel security systems.
  • Implement continuous evaluation/continuous vetting practices; lead insider threat awareness and referral processes in partnership with the Facility Security Officer (FSO) and Insider Threat Program Senior Official (ITPSO).
  • Information Assurance (IA) Partner with ISSM/ISSO to ensure classified IS compliance with RMF, NIST SP 800-53 controls, JSIG, and customer ATO requirements.
  • Oversee media control, data transfer, audit, and incident response for classified networks; ensure configuration management and vulnerability remediation align with program timelines.
  • Operations Security Develop and enforce Program Security Guides (PSGs), SOPs, and OPSEC plans; conduct Critical Program Information (CPI) identification and protection planning.
  • Lead derivative classification, marking, and safeguarding practices; perform self-inspections and corrective action plans.
  • Supplier and Subcontractor Security Assess and monitor subcontractor security compliance, including DD254 execution, secure communications, and classified visit control.
  • Coordinate classified shipments, secure logistics, and international considerations (e.g., export control/ITAR/EAR, foreign travel/contacts).
  • Training and Governance Develop and deliver targeted security training and awareness for program personnel and suppliers; maintain records and compliance evidence.
  • Prepare for and lead government assessments, Management Reviews, and internal audits; maintain authoritative, audit-ready documentation.
