With a commitment to patient- and family-centered care, the Lead Ambulatory Registered Nurse oversees the daily clinical operations and clinical care of patients in the ambulatory setting in ways that values the uniqueness of each individual and addresses the physical, psychological, emotional, and social needs of the diversity of patients served by Jefferson Health. In collaboration with nursing and service line leadership, s/he has operational authority and responsibility for the training and oversight of clinical staff. S/he is responsible for maintaining quality and regulatory standards as it pertains to nursing practice in primary care, patient and staff satisfaction, developing effective teams, implementing staffing models, and serving as an administrative link between the RN, the medical assistant teams and clinical and administrative leaders. Additionally, supports the daily operations of the ambulatory clinic by acting as a clinician and providing direct clinical care. Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson. Recognizes the patients, their family/designated care partner(s) in providing safe, compassionate and coordinated care based on respect for patient's personal preferences, priorities, needs, and cultural beliefs and values. Communicates with and supports the interprofessional team, patient, family and designated care partners. Provides training and oversight to clinical staff (registered nurses and lead medical assistants where applicable) and conducts performance evaluations, works with supervisor to help manage time and attendance and initiate corrective action when appropriate. In conjunction with site managers/leaders, shares accountability for standardized onboarding process and competencies; assists less experienced nurses and staff with developing this skill. Facilitates and/or provides continuing education to staff and patients. Facilitates and trains team nurses and medical assistants to be effective communicators with patients, families and staff. Demonstrates decision making and leadership activities and ethical behaviors in accordance with policy and ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses and HIPAA guidelines. Responsible for all training, staff competency, and independent evaluation of staff to ensure total and effective service provision to patients, staff, and physicians. Facilitates and participates in patient-centered care, including evaluation, coordination, and general clinical assistance to providers to achieve high quality care and efficient use of resources, in accordance with scope of nursing services. Manages professional behavior and coaches’ team members in partnership with leadership and HR to address concerns Aware of nursing trends, NSI and BPA’s in ambulatory care setting, mentors nurses to create and implement process improvement measures in clinical practice to promote healthy outcomes.
