About The Position

We are seeking a high energy, creative and passionate Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our residential services team. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • Experience working with the IDD community or other at-risk population
  • Experience working with Electronic Health Records (EHR)
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • Proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft Office and Electronic Charting Systems.
  • Must be able to pass a background check, drug screen, and obtain DOT certification.
  • Able to work effectively with team members across all departments at Wellspring Community and with the public.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Effectively manages challenging behaviors using positive behavior supports and seeks support from senior staff as needed.
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Willing to work a flexible schedule when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care and supervision for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the community and in their personal home.
  • Assist individuals in completing living skills, money management, cooking, and community participation, hygiene routine, household cleaning, and grocery shopping
  • Plan and carry out a variety of recreational activities to advance social development (outings to museums, parks, dances, recreation center, etc.).
  • Provide transportation to individuals as needed.
  • Assist with medical care (medication administration, and transportation to medical appointments).
  • Implement and document individual goals and medical tracking electronically.
  • Participate with the team in development and implementation of Individual Service and Support Plan.
  • Coordinate other resources as needed including support in arranging and/or directly providing transportation for participants.
  • Facilitate and monitor activities consistent with Individual Service Plan goals and objectives for assigned caseload.
  • Responsible for supporting and maintaining a physically and psychologically safe environment.
  • Assist Manager in building weekly schedule of services
  • Create individual weekly schedules
  • Act as a central point of contact for families and individuals when schedules and services change.
  • Support with managing and adjusting schedules and communicating with residents in the event of staff call-outs
  • Provide input on resident care plans
  • Maintain systems for communicating details and logistics (van use schedules, resident appointments, etc.)
  • Responsible for backing up on call staff when Manager is not available
