About The Position

The Lead Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for overseeing and executing quality assurance activities for statewide government technology initiatives. This role provides leadership across testing efforts, ensures compliance with state and federal standards, and validates that systems meet functional, performance, accessibility, and regulatory requirements. The Lead QA Specialist works closely with product owners, project managers, developers, and stakeholders to deliver reliable, high‑quality solutions that support public‑facing and mission-critical systems.

Requirements

  • 5–8+ years of experience in quality assurance, software testing, or compliance oversight
  • Demonstrated ability to lead QA teams and coordinate testing efforts across multiple stakeholders
  • Experience supporting government technology projects, including familiarity with state or federal standards and compliance requirements
  • Strong knowledge of QA methodologies, test strategy development, and defect lifecycle management
  • Hands‑on experience with accessibility testing and regulatory compliance
  • Proficiency with quality assurance and test management tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, Selenium, Postman, JMeter, or similar government-approved platforms
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Formal education or training in Quality Assurance, Software Testing, or a related discipline
  • Must hold one or more certifications from an accredited organization, such as Certified Manager of Software Quality (CMSQ), Advanced Level Test Analyst or Test Manager, Certified Software Quality Analyst (CSQA), Certified Associate in Software Testing (CAST), or Certified Test Engineer (CSTE).

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate quality assurance activities across assigned projects and work orders
  • Design and implement QA controls, test strategies, and testing processes for complex systems
  • Develop and execute test plans, test cases, test scripts, and related documentation
  • Manage and perform functional, regression, integration, user acceptance, and performance testing
  • Design and prepare test data required to validate application functionality and system outputs
  • Review and analyze test results to ensure conformance with design specifications, standards, and regulations
  • Ensure compliance with accessibility standards, including WCAG and Section 508
  • Conduct data validation, quality control reviews, and verification of system outputs
  • Participate in prototype reviews, system demonstrations, and final acceptance activities
  • Mentor and guide QA team members to promote consistent delivery of high‑quality products
