About The Position

We are looking for a Lead Project Integration Engineer to lead the planning and execution of system deployments of our industry-leading quantum computing and networking system products. As a Lead Project Integration Engineer, you’ll be hands-on while working alongside a diverse interdisciplinary team of Engineers and Operations experts both coordinating and executing the deployment of systems at customer sites and internally. You’ll work closely with program and operations managers to ensure infrastructure, material and people are coordinated and remain on track throughout the system build. You will contribute technical expertise, make informed decisions and escalate concerns when necessary. In this role, you may be required to travel in support of system deployments both domestically and globally as part of your regular responsibilities.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience developing, integrating, or testing highly complex systems
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, physics, computer science, or other related technical field
  • 3+ years of experience leading multidisciplinary teams on complex programs or projects
  • Prior experience delivering complex, first-of-a-kind R&D projects to production including hardware/software integration
  • Experience developing projects with a high level of ambiguity
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel to deployment sites, sometimes for extended periods up to 6 months
  • Strong technical and software tool skills (Scheduling, Issue Tracking, MS Office, Jira, Confluence, etc.)

Nice To Haves

  • M.S. in physics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field
  • Prior experience with trapped ion systems, photonics, or quantum computing
  • Experience working with ISO 9001 / TL9000 Quality Management System
  • Experience deploying complex systems to customer sites
  • PMP certification or similar
  • Familiarity with systems engineering gated development processes
  • Familiarity with Manufacturing including assembly and test development
  • Familiarity with Supply Chain Management, including new supplier development
  • Experience with U.S. government contract including FAR/DFARS regulations

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain plans for system deployments at IonQ, partner or customer sites
  • Coordinate with partner teams across IonQ locations to ensure facilities, infrastructure, materials and personnel are available to support planned deployment activities
  • Work with the deployment team to track progress, resolve technical issues and adjust resource schedules as needed
  • Drive technical issues to resolution via standard processes like Root Cause Corrective Action, Lessons Learned, Failure Mode Effects Analysis, Non-Conformance, etc.
  • Perform and assist with hands-on assembly, test or system integration activities as needed
  • Contribute to Design for Manufacturing and Test reviews
  • Contribute to and conduct Operations Readiness Reviews for deployed systems
  • Conduct weekly meetings, drive and track action items as required
