About The Position

The Groceries On The Go Coordinator supports the daily operations of the mobile food distribution program designed to bring fresh, nutritious groceries directly to community members. This role combines customer service, partnership liaison, and operational logistics to ensure smooth delivery and meaningful neighbor engagement at every stop. The coordinator serves as a key representative of the organization at community events, helping to connect neighbors not only to food but also help beyond food. We aim to empower our community to utilize resources and services that reduce challenges caused by financial crisis. We equip neighbors with knowledge, resources, and opportunities to advance economic mobility; empowering neighbors to have a brighter, healthier future. The Groceries On The Go Coordinator reports to the Health Programs/GOTG Manager and will play a large role in Food Is Medicine programming at Feeding Tampa Bay. This position will be responsible for daily operations of mobile food distributions and community events scheduled for the Groceries On The Go truck; this includes set up at community events, oversight of Feeding Tampa Bay’s scheduling system, and other data entry in program applications, utilization of the POS system, and providing excellent customer service to neighbors. This role will support periodic research projects and analysis efforts as needed.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Customer Service experience, a plus
  • Experience working in low-income, culturally diverse community settings and a basic understanding of the challenges and barriers faced when individuals and families seek assistance. Knowledge and experience with homeless or housing-insecure populations, a plus
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills; especially demonstrated ability to work with and communicate effectively over the phone and in person
  • Ability to work outside in Florida weather conditions during distribution events (1-3 hours)
  • Ability to lift 35 lbs
  • Proven ability to handle and document deliverables and data from many sources. Spreadsheet skills a must.
  • Ability to work constructively with individuals (agency staff, the public, and volunteers) from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds in culturally diverse work environments.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Zoom, and Asana experience a plus.
  • Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s license; may require driving within our 10-county service area
  • Willing to actively participate in mission-driven programs, such as food distribution initiatives and disaster relief operations as needed.
  • All internal candidates must be in good standing with no corrective actions within the last 90 days.

Responsibilities

  • Attend GOTG stops to lead site operations, provide programmatic support, and ensure the truck, technology, and equipment are maintained and fully equipped for safe and efficient operation.
  • Serve as FTB health program liaison for partners, coordinating stop times, managing reschedules, and communicating closures.
  • Build and maintain relationships with partners, volunteers, neighbors, and host sites to ensure program success.
  • Create a welcoming environment for volunteers by effectively introducing volunteers to the program and assigning tasks during stop operations.
  • Utilize point-of-sale (POS) systems to process transactions efficiently and accurately.
  • Complete SNAP training (on-the-job training provided).
  • Conduct monitors for GOTG and other healthcare partners to ensure compliance with FTB policies and procedures.
  • Monitor inventory for GOTG, FoodRx, and Healing Bag programs
  • Work with the GOTG team to conduct cycle counts and ensure trucks and warehouses are routinely stocked.
  • Maintain an inventory tracking system using Google Workspace and other applications; communicate procurement needs to Health Programs Manager
  • Safely operate pallet jacks and assist with loading/unloading and stocking inventory (on-job training provided).
  • Assist with data collection to evaluate program impact and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Oversee and uphold policies, principles, and best practices for food safety on trucks and at event stops; obtain ServSafe food safety certification (training provided).
  • Ensure the safety of staff and volunteers at stops by promoting clean and safe FTB policies.
  • Embrace, uphold, and embody FTB’s mission, Grow Code, and desired philosophies in all neighbor, community, and internal interactions.
  • Represent FTB and Health Programs internally and externally to the highest standard, including attendance at community events and meetings.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative culture for Neighbors, volunteers, and peers within Health Programs.
  • Maintain regular communication with supervisor and Neighbor Services Leadership regarding health programs and stakeholders.
  • Serve as a first responder during natural disasters, supporting community distributions, emergency hotline coverage, and triage services as needed.
  • Cross-train to provide support in various Neighbor Experience areas (market shopping, community events, helpline coverage, etc.).
  • Assist other Feeding Tampa Bay staff on special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
