About The Position

This position is responsible for: The primary function of this position is to supervise large and small groups of summer day camp participants with the assistance of other counselors. Lead Program Aides work with ages 6-12. Must have the ability and desire to work with children, parents, volunteers, and peers. Lead Program Aides will maintain all participants' safety, health, happiness, discipline, cleanliness, character, and skill development. In addition, lead Program Aides will help participants carry out activities, promote participation, and be asked to teach and demonstrate the following: sports skills, arts and crafts, movements, educational concepts, musical concepts, and various games. Overall, Lead Program Aides will supervise and lead activities for all summer day camp programs while ensuring the participant’s safety and well-being.

Requirements

  • High School diploma: GED
  • Must have prior experience working with children
  • Must have a Valid Driver’s License.
  • Must possess (or be able to obtain within 30 days of hire) a KY Driver’s License.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred camp counselor experience
  • Preferred classwork in childhood development or related field
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Preferred CPR/First Aid certification at time of hire (or ability to be certified)

Responsibilities

  • Leads activities and other children’s programs through activities with enthusiasm according to training protocol and written lesson plans.
  • Gathers and sets up appropriate supplies and materials for planned activities; ensures the children participants’ safety in utilizing the same.
  • Plans activities, lesson plans, and specialized theme events with Corps Officers and Summer aides.
