About The Position

We’re looking for a Lead Product Designer who will own how Fohr's products feel end-to-end. In partnership with the CEO, with basic input and context from our brand design team, you'll define the visual and emotional tone of the products and, in collaboration with our product team, shepherd your work into existence in the real world. We are seeking a designer with outstanding taste, strong opinions, and the confidence to say “no” far more often than “yes” while bringing the team to consensus quickly and decisively. ABOUT WHAT YOU’LL DO Define the look and feel of Fohr's products. Think critically about design and aesthetics. Maintain skepticism of trends and jargon. Look for the question behind the question. Build with low ego but strong conviction. Balance product velocity with long-term usability and consistency. Work in direct partnership with the CEO to shape the vision for the product. Work in direct partnership with engineers and product managers to build the product. ABOUT YOU 5+ years of experience You have singular taste and the ability to win people over. Your friends have probably joked that in another life, you'd lead a cult. You are hungry to run hard with a team who wants the same. You're curious about nearly everything, but especially and intensely about people and how they use digital products. You relish the opportunity to see for yourself and to design in response to your findings. An innate orientation toward helpfulness and optimism (ie, “this could be better” (we see this as the core m.o. of most designers)) Unassailable excellence in your craft. Your typography is immaculate. You are a genius of scale and proportion. You wake up and piss cool side projects. Graphic design is your prison. Interest in Fohr's mission and goals You're the kind of designer who wants to own the whole thing; not just a slice In the words of Chef Andrew Carmellini during his tenure as chef de cuisine of Cafe Boulud: "You must love to do this for a living — no question...You must love to practice only the best, most perfect techniques in order to produce a product you are proud of. Your end product is a direct reflection of how much love and respect you have for yourself and your work." A high level of competency and speed working in Figma (including building and editing component libraries) Familiarity with and enthusiasm for prototyping tools
