About The Position

As a Lead Designer at Energage, you'll own significant product areas and drive them from research through launch as we mature our design practice and elevate design's influence across the organization. You'll be a key member building our new unified experience—conducting user research, designing flows and interactions, and establishing patterns that work across diverse user needs—while helping position design as a strategic driver of business value and exceptional user experiences.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years of product design experience with increasing responsibility for complex projects and team leadership
  • Strong generalist skills owning the full design process from research through high-fidelity design
  • Research proficiency planning, conducting, and synthesizing qualitative and quantitative research
  • Systems thinking creating scalable design systems, components, and patterns
  • Proven track record shipping high-quality products with measurable impact
  • Collaboration skills working effectively with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders
  • Mentorship experience helping other designers grow
  • Communication skills presenting work confidently and influencing decisions with data
  • Portfolio showcasing end-to-end design process, research skills, and high-quality craft
  • Expertise in industry-standard design and collaboration tools such as Figma, Confluence, Notion, Google Drive
  • Inclusive design expertise with understanding of WCAG standards and designing for diverse abilities, contexts, and user needs
  • Agile/Scrum experience working in iterative, cross-functional product teams
  • Complex B2B product experience with multi-user, multi-role enterprise workflows

  • Experience contributing to maturing design practices at growing organizations
  • Background in B2B SaaS, HR tech, or employee experience products
  • Experience with platform consolidation, design system unification, or multi-product ecosystems

Responsibilities

  • Own design for significant product areas within our new unified experience, from research through execution
  • Design comprehensive user flows, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes
  • Handle complex, ambiguous projects with minimal oversight, demonstrating design's strategic value through high-quality work
  • Balance hands-on design work with leadership and mentoring, with the ratio evolving based on team needs
  • Plan and conduct generative and evaluative research using qualitative and quantitative methods
  • Pair the right research methods with objectives to uncover insights and validate decisions
  • Synthesize findings into actionable design recommendations that drive product strategy
  • Collaborate with the Principal Designer to ensure research ladders up to holistic experience goals
  • Produce work demonstrating exceptional attention to detail that serves as a model for the team
  • Design with systems thinking—creating patterns and components others can utilize across the product
  • Consider all constraints including accessibility, responsive design, dark mode, localization, and edge cases
  • Own the design system for your focus area, ensuring consistency and championing adoption
  • Mentor Senior and mid-level designers through coaching, feedback, and skill shares
  • Guide teammates in assessing priorities to increase velocity, quality, and impact
  • Model excellent design through your work and collaborative approach
  • Contribute to establishing team processes that mature our practice
  • Present work with polish and confidence to stakeholders at all levels
  • Build rapport with cross-functional partners in product, engineering, and business
  • Advocate for user needs and design quality using data and storytelling
  • Help establish design as a valued strategic partner through your collaborative approach
