About The Position

Reporting to a supervisor, the Lead Processing Operator is responsible for providing direction and troubleshooting over the group. Primary responsibility is to coordinate and supervise labor and mechanical equipment on rotating shifts to allow for efficient completion of daily production and quality objectives as defined by procedures. Develops and executes daily strategies that will support the company’s goals of safety, morale, quality, production, and cost.

Requirements

  • Mechanical and supervisory skills
  • Understand the concept of ownership of the process
  • Possess an intuitive feeling of the meaning of analytical data. A team leader is continually required to analyze data and direct team members to meet quality and production objectives.
  • Must understand all safety requirements to ensure compliance with rules, regulations, and precautions
  • Must possess a willingness to work on rotating shifts and assist operators to maintain an efficient process.
  • This position requires presence on the production floor. Proper PPE is required when working in these areas.
  • Must be able to function while using the appropriate PPE including, but not limited to:
  • Safety Glasses
  • Hard Hat
  • Hearing Protection
  • Dust Mask
  • Gloves
  • Protective clothing/Harness
  • Must be able to frequently lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for the duration of the shift
  • Bending, reaching, twisting, stooping, walking, and climbing stairways and ladders frequently.
  • Must be able to climb ladders up to 100 feet.

Responsibilities

  • Spends a minimum of 5 ½ hours of your 8-hr. shift on the floor providing guidance to others in the processing work group including troubleshooting problems. The First and last hour of your shift will be dedicated to office time. (Send emails/pass downs, input work orders, etc.)
  • Provides input to supervisors on performance of team members but is not responsible for the evaluation and actions taken regarding team members.
  • Maintains the highest level of processing skills to which guidance is given.
  • Observes daily, all safety rules, regulations, and precautions to maintain a safe work environment. Holding operators accountable to Keeping areas clean and free of clutter.
  • Understands product specifications and how to modify processes to meet specifications.
  • Direct the individual work schedules of the personnel assigned to the shift to meet the daily objectives of safety production, quality, and housekeeping. Coordinate with the Packaging and Maintenance lead/Supervisor to ensure clay supply to their operations. (Daily lead meeting)
  • Responsible for accomplishing equipment inspections as necessary and coordinating work orders and callouts of personnel to meet acceptable plant performance as defined by Plant Manager.
  • Responsible for handling the hands-on training for all team members as to proper lab, quality control, production techniques and MSHA required monthly safety training.
  • Responsible for handling performance related issues with team members in a positive manner.
  • Responsible for training and performing audits to ensure all teammates are performing transactions correctly within JDE.
  • Report production and perform daily, weekly, monthly cycle counts in JDE.
  • Adjust schedule to cover for teammates scheduled vacation.
  • Must be able to work A, B, or C shifts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
