About The Position

The Lead Porter is responsible for the daily maintenance and overall care of the facility. This position will also assist Building Administration with ongoing tasks and special projects, ensuring cleanliness and operational excellence. Additionally, the Lead Porter is responsible for supervising porters and cleaning staff, assigning tasks, and maintaining high standards of quality and safety. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the cleaning/janitorial industry.
  • At least 1 year of previous experience as a porter.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work the assigned schedule and adapt to operational needs.
  • Ability to interact professionally with individuals and groups at all levels of the organization.
  • Must be able to work in close proximity with others and outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Must possess a valid state driver's license.
  • Proficiency in English (verbal and written communication).
  • Ability to write basic reports and business communications.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, and kneel as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous supervisory experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Service all public and operational spaces throughout the building.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the plaza and/or parking garage areas.
  • Ensure elevator cabs are tidy and clean.
  • Preserve the appearance of the lobby and other first impression areas.
  • Maintain the exterior conditions of the building.
  • Ensure restrooms are clean, well-stocked, and maintained.
  • Oversee and maintain the cleanliness of building grounds, docks, and stairwells.
  • Perform dust mopping of stairwells weekly and wet mopping of landings and treads monthly.
  • Respond to special cleaning or maintenance requests as needed.
  • Supervise porters and cleaning staff, ensuring tasks are carried out efficiently.
  • Assign tasks according to operational priorities or special assignments.
  • Conduct quality control inspections to meet Harvard and client standards.
  • Train new and current staff on proper procedures and cleaning techniques.
  • Promote and enforce safe work practices and the proper use of personal protective equipment.
  • Manage supply inventory; order and distribute supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Review and follow up on work orders.
  • Ensure all cleaning equipment is properly maintained.
