About The Position

The Lead Pool Cashier for Kent County Parks & Recreation plays a vital role in overseeing pool operations by ensuring a smooth, cashless transaction process, assisting patrons with purchasing Facility Access Cards, season pool passes, and pool merchandise. This position requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage and supervise Pool Cashiers. As a lead, you will ensure that all payment transactions are accurately processed through the cashless payment system. The Lead Pool Cashier must be professional, approachable, and able to travel between the Millington and Worton pool locations, with a focus on maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age (exceptionally qualified candidates at least 18 years old may be considered).
  • Strong experience with cashless payment systems (credit/debit cards).
  • Previous cashiering experience preferred, with emphasis on digital transactions.
  • Ability to supervise and provide guidance to other staff.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to maintain a positive and professional attitude when dealing with the public.
  • Must be available for the full summer season, including orientation, weekends and holidays (Memorial Day to Labor Day).
  • Ability to travel between Millington and Worton pools as required.
  • Ability to work independently and manage tasks in a busy, fast-paced environment.
  • Must be familiar with or able to quickly learn pool operations and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage cashless transactions, including processing payments for Facility Access Cards, season pool passes, and pool merchandise through electronic payment methods (credit/debit cards, mobile payments, etc.).
  • Ensure accurate processing of all transactions using the cashless payment system, following County procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pool office and equipment throughout the shift and at the end of the shift.
  • Supervise and assist Pool Cashiers, ensuring smooth operations and efficient customer service.
  • Report any discrepancies in payment processing or system errors to the Supervisor immediately.
  • Enforce pool policies and procedures, including safety and customer service standards.
  • Answer phone calls and respond to general pool and aquatic program inquiries.
  • Dispense First Aid supplies as needed and assist in emergency situations.
  • Document incidents and report them to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Provide excellent customer service to pool patrons, maintaining a courteous, cheerful, and professional demeanor.
