What you’ll do: AT&T’s Global Software & Product Delivery organization is seeking a Lead Platform Engineer to code, automate, and enable enterprise-level tools and workflows that help developers deliver secure, high-quality software. Join our team and help us drive a better developer experience, greater agility, and stronger technology across AT&T. Design and implement automation: Write scripts, integrations, and custom workflows in Python, Java, JavaScript, or PowerShell to automate developer tools and processes. Develop and maintain CI/CD workflows: Build and troubleshoot pipelines using GitHub Actions—leveraging your coding skills to connect platforms and enforce standards. Integrate platforms: Build and maintain integrations between GitHub and SonarQube Cloud technologies using APIs, scripting, and automation. Drive continuous improvement: Identify opportunities to automate manual processes, improve tool adoption, and reduce developer friction across the CI/CD lifecycle. Collaborate and communicate: Work with engineers, architects, internal business partners, and 3rd party vendors to deliver technical solutions to support code quality and security policies and initiatives. Champion AI tool adoption: Leverage GitHub Copilot or other AI developer tools to increase productivity and share best practices—helping the team become power users and drive measurable optimization. Promote curiosity: Stay current with DevSecOps trends and technologies; share knowledge, ask questions, and influence the team to continuously level up.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in software engineering, DevOps, or platform engineering roles with regular hands-on coding responsibilities.
  • Strong scripting and programming skills (Python, Java, JavaScript, PowerShell, or similar).
  • Proven experience writing, debugging, and maintaining automation scripts, APIs, or CI/CD workflows in a professional environment.
  • Experience with administration and enablement of SaaS developer tools (SonarQube, GitHub Advanced Security, Veracode, etc.).
  • Hands-on skills with APIs, CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions), and Microsoft ecosystem tools.
  • Ability to communicate proactively, work cross-functionally, and support compliance and security requirements with specialized teams.
  • Ability to read, write, and adapt code to solve practical workflow and integration problems.
  • Experience integrating APIs and building automation for developer tools and processes.
  • Curiosity about new technologies and a drive to find better, more efficient solutions.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills—managing multiple requests, communicating status, and escalating risks or blockers early.
  • Comfort working with minimal supervision, taking ownership of deliverables, and collaborating with diverse stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with GitHub Actions workflow development at enterprise scale.
  • Exposure to infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, ARM templates) in Microsoft Azure environments.
  • Understanding of DevSecOps, “shift left” security, or developer productivity initiatives.
  • Demonstrated interest in or experience with AI developer tools (such as GitHub Copilot) to improve engineering efficiency.
  • Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) desired in Computer Science.
  • 5+ years of related experience.
  • Certification is required in some areas.
