POSITION SUMMARY The CVS Digital Developer Experience organization focuses on building tools, platforms and services that help developers do their best work. Our goal is to provide fast, reliable, secure, and intuitive tooling and self-service automation so engineers can focus on creating great products rather than dealing with unnecessary complexity. We support tens of thousands of developers across CVS Health, and our responsibilities span source control, CI systems, build and deployment pipelines, artifact repositories, development environments, and AI‑powered coding tools. The Lead Director - Developer Tooling is a hands‑on engineering leader responsible for the end‑to-end platforms and services that make up the core CVS Health developer toolchain. This includes enterprise GitHub administration, large‑scale GitHub Actions operations, continuous delivery platforms, and artifact management systems. The role also leads modernization work, driving the migration from legacy tooling, including Nexus, GitLab, Jenkins, and Octopus, to our modern vibrancy tools. This leader is accountable for delivering highly reliable, secure, and consistent CI/CD capabilities at enterprise scale. The role requires deep experience creating and maintaining pipelines that support thousands of workflows and development teams, along with strong operational rigor and a customer‑centric approach. Additionally, the Lead Director will guide the rollout and adoption of AI coding assistants across a large engineering population, ensuring responsible, effective, and secure implementation. A key responsibility of this Lead Director opportunity is building and sustaining a high‑performing engineering team. The person in this role should lead with empathy, trust, and genuine care, creating an environment where engineers feel supported and empowered. The team’s focus should be delivering exceptional customer experiences for internal developers and continually improving the tools they use every day. Requirements

  • At least ten (10+) years of IT or backend engineering experience supporting enterprise systems
  • 6+ years of experience with backend technologies such as Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, and cloud providers such as AWS, GCP and Azure
  • 5+ years of experience administering and scaling GitHub or comparable source control platforms for large engineering populations
  • 4+ years of experience partnering with architecture, product, and program leadership to influence platform direction
  • 4+ years of experience managing enterprise artifact repository solutions such as Jfrog, GAR or Nexus
  • 4+ years of experience managing CI or CD platforms at scale in large engineering organizations
  • 4+ years of experience managing teams with direct reports and leading large engineering organizations across multiple locations
  • Experience leading teams within Agile or Scrum environments
