About The Position

Long Prairie Packing Company LLC, an American Foods Group Company, has an opportunity for a Lead Person Barn at our Long Prairie, MN plant. Hours 8-11+ hours/day, 5-6 days/weekHiring for day shift ONLY As our Lead Person Barn, you will: Oversee operations to provide day-to-day control of assigned department activities according to schedules, priorities, production flow, and processing specifications to ensure product ion efficiencies are met hourly. Evaluate department work performance and inform supervisor if action is needed. Complete required paperwork. Practice humane animal handling techniques. Move cattle from pen to pen for ante-mortem inspection, check water troughs, and verify cattle counts per load. Initial back of Ante-mortem card verifying cattle count. Highlight front of card verifying all info is correct and signed by USDA. Separate slow/challenged cattle. Transport/move deads; use skid loader to clean pens. Maintain organization in daily tasks and complete paperwork. NOTE: this description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of work temperatures warm, hot, humid, cold, wet or with slippery surfaces at varied heights in and around moving equipment and parts with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Must be able to perform the job duties with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Ability to work extended scheduled hours Monday through Saturday with daily overtime.
  • Must be able to work overtime as required. Start times and hours vary based on production needs.
  • Must be safety conscious.
  • Must have strong attention to detail.
  • Must be willing to work on-call, occasionally.
  • Must be able to successfully complete training: Safety, Safe Quality Food (SQF), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Food defense.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior harvest experience in a USDA inspected beef, pork, or poultry facility.
  • Prior production experience.
  • Work history in the last 12 months.
