The Lead Payroll Analyst role oversees the end-to-end payroll operations, including assurance of accurate and timely processing of employee payments, and compliance with labor legislation and tax requirements. Key duties include managing payroll transactions in Oracle-cloud system and various payroll integrations (including benefits, timekeeping, vehicles program, banking/ACH file transmissions, tax filing, printing, others). It also includes the management of cost accounting reconciliation and leading a payroll group performing these activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • 4+ years of experience in payroll management, with a strong understanding of U.S. payroll laws, including FLSA.
  • Proficiency in payroll software(s) and Microsoft Office (Excel).
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • One of the following designations: Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), CPA, Enrolled Agent, etc.
  • Experience with multi-state/jurisdictions payroll.
  • Familiar with some international payroll requirements, specifically to assist with matters regarding Canadian Commuter Employees and/or International Service Employees.
  • 4+ years of payroll experience with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Computer skills (Microsoft Tools)and basic level of knowledge of SharePoint.
  • Good interpersonal skills – mature in handling complex interactions, & ability to develop a strong connect with work partners on/off location
  • Payroll team members work with sensitive employee information, such as salaries, bank account details and tax information. Confidentiality involves protecting personal data, implementing secure data management practices and adhering to privacy regulations. Payroll team members are discreet and professional when communicating and handling such data to protect employee privacy and maintain trust within the organization.
  • Basic accounting principles and ability to understand impact to financials. Accounting principles are concepts such as debits, credits, general ledger entries and reconciliation. Payroll team members manage the financial aspects of employee compensation. Knowledge of accounting principles enables payroll specialists to maintain accurate financial records, ensure compliance with accounting standards and provide valuable insights for decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Payroll Processing: Oversee the end-to-end processing of payroll for all U.S. employees, including salary, hourly, bonus, and other special payments.
  • Compliance & Reporting: Ensure adherence to tax laws, complying with all federal, state, and local regulations regarding payroll, taxes (W-2s), and employee deductions.
  • Data Accuracy: Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve any payment discrepancies or issues related to pay slips, direct deposits, leaves, timekeeping, overtime/shift premiums, benefit/contribution deductions, and/or tax withholdings.
  • Systems Management: Design and maintain payroll systems, including timekeeping, data entry processes, and payroll inbound and outbound integrations.
  • Leadership & Collaboration: Lead, train, and mentor a team of payroll specialists.
  • Reporting: Generate reports for management regarding payroll expenses, tax liabilities, deductions, and other key metrics.
  • Collaboration: work with other internal skill teams (HR, Finance/Accounting, Manufacturing, Legal, Tax, etc.) and external partners in the resolution of payroll matters.
