About The Position

Applies only to Emergency Department and BOS Digital Registration. Serves as a Patient Access resource, performs a variety of duties to ensure accuracy and validity of the Patient Financial Associate functions, taking on the leadership role in the absence of the Manager/Supervisor. This position is for those individuals who will serve as a preceptor for new hires. This position demonstrates exemplary teamwork, service excellence and overall knowledge of the revenue cycle. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining a high-level of expertise in Patient Access serving as a liaison to maximize efficiency, the patient experience, throughput, and individual collections goals. Maintains a close working relationship with all members of the clinical team to ensure a seamless and positive experience for both patients and caregivers. This incumbent is considered essential staff and must be able to work as needed on weekends, holidays, and disastrous events. Assist in supporting go lives and different departmental initiatives. Participate in departmental committees/champion opportunities. Practices the Baptist Health philosophy of service excellence in providing professional, compassionate and friendly service to patients of all ages, families, employees, physicians and community members. Degrees: High School,Cert,GED,Trn,Exper.

Requirements

  • For internal staff: A minimum of 2 years Patient Access experience.
  • Meets/exceeds BHSF registration accuracy and individual POS collection standards for at least the most recent 12 months.
  • Exceeds departmental KPIs.
  • Maintains a positive attitude, is self-motivated, and encourages others.
  • Cross trained in multiple areas/product lines/practices to substitute all staff positions as needed.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the roles of greeter, trauma, maternity, and admitting (where applicable).
  • For external staff: Associates Degree preferred with 2 years Patient Access experience, or 3 years Patient Access/Leadership experience in lieu of degree.
  • Complete and pass the Patient Access training course.
  • Ability to work in a high volume, fast-paced work environment, and perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Detail oriented, organized, team player, compassionate, excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of medical and insurance terminology.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulatory guidelines to include, but not limited to, HIPAA, AHCA, EMTALA, etc.
  • Understanding of insurance contracts, collections, authorizations and pre-certifications, Microsoft Office products, and EMR applications, etc.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Bilingual English, Spanish/Creole.
