About The Position

Exemplary teamwork, service, and overall knowledge of BHSF Revenue Cycle, from a Patient Access perspective. This position is for those individuals who will serve as a preceptor for new hires. The incumbent will be responsible for scheduling patient appointments (diagnostic, surgical, therapy, physician office visits, and other procedures/treatments). Obtains and verifies necessary demographic and insurance information. Registers patients and enters data into scheduling system. This position requires the incumbent to be in a call center type environment and responsible for meeting individual quality metrics. Serves as a Patient Access resource and takes on leadership role in the absence of a Manager/Supervisor. Assist in supporting go lives and different departmental initiatives. Participate in departmental committees/champion opportunities. Practices the Baptist Health philosophy of service excellence in providing professional, compassionate and friendly service to patients of all ages, families, employees, physicians and community members.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, Certificate of Attendance, Certificate of Completion, GED, or experience required.
  • For internal staff: A minimum of 2 years Patient Access experience.
  • Meets/exceeds BHSF registration accuracy and productivity standards for at least the most recent 12 months.
  • Exceeds departmental KPIs.
  • Maintains a positive attitude, is self-motivated, and encourages others.
  • Cross trained in multiple areas/product lines/practices to substitute all staff positions as needed.
  • For external staff: Associates Degree preferred with 2 years Patient Access experience, or 3 years' Patient Access/Leadership experience in lieu of degree.
  • Complete and successfully pass the Patient Access training course.
  • Ability to work in a high volume, fast-paced work environment, and perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Detail oriented, organized, team player, compassionate, excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of healthcare regulatory guidelines to include, but not limited to, HIPAA, AHCA, EMTALA, and Medicare coverage structure, including medical necessity compliance guidelines.
  • Understanding of insurance contracts and scheduling guidelines/protocols.
  • Experienced in Microsoft Office products and EMR applications.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
