About The Position

The Lead Packager will perform tasks involved in the production of Quaker Houghton lubricant products. This includes filling, packaging and palletizing grease according to written specifications. All Packagers must follow standard work methods and practice safe work habits to ensure production is efficient and safe. Under the direction of the Production Supervisor, the Lead Packager will also coordinate the daily tasks and assignments of packaging colleagues.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required. Advanced education or skilled training preferred.
  • Must have at least 3+ years prior experience working as a packager or in a similar role in a factory environment. Preferred experience in a Lead role.
  • Requires strong basic math skills
  • Must be able to work as part of a team
  • Must be able to speak, read and write English fluently

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience in a Lead role.
  • Advanced education or skilled training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates daily supervision with the Production Supervisor, directing packaging colleagues in daily tasks and assignments. May act as a back-up for the Production Supervisor when required.
  • Competencies of Packager II training and proficient with task knowledge to perform day to day operations of and assistance to the Packaging Supervisor.
  • Demonstration of leadership abilities to train and mentor packaging colleagues. Ensure that all work is done in a safe manner and appropriate personal protective equipment is being utilized.
  • Must be able to work with other departments within Quaker Houghton.
  • Must be fully compliant with diversity and inclusion as it applies to current, future or potential colleagues.
  • Proficient at higher level equipment operations and tasks. This includes Gaulin mill operation, deaerator operation, set up and operation of automated pail filler, bulk trailer loading, and 1-line set-up and operations.
  • Recommends process changes based on experience and historical data.
  • Demonstrates safe work practices.
  • Read fill sheets and performs work as assigned by production supervisor.
  • Sets up filling equipment, scales and containers at various production points.
  • Labels or stencils containers as specified.
  • Operates valves and other controls on production equipment.
  • Follows through with customer specifications on work orders, filling finished product into various packaging units.
  • Notifies supervisor of any safety, mechanical or product quality related issues.
  • Maintains a clean and safe workplace.
  • Performs other related duties and assignments as required.
