As a Lead Overnight Counselor, you are the heartbeat of our nighttime safety and the reason our summer programs can thrive. By leading a team of dedicated counselors and maintaining an "awake status," you ensure our campers with disabilities remain safe, supported, and ready for another day of adventure. Requirements

  • A strong background in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities within a center-based or residential camp setting.
  • The ability to monitor both individuals and groups effectively.
  • Apply positive behavioral supports.
  • Direct the work of others when assistance is needed.
  • Physically, the candidate must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Academically, one to two years of college is preferred, ideally with a focus on special education, recreation, or therapy.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the safety and well-being of campers with disabilities during nighttime hours.
  • Maintaining an active "awake status."
  • Providing direct supervision.
  • Assisting with personal hygiene.
  • Using positive behavioral supports to help participants sleep safely.
  • Leading overnight staff.
  • Alerting support teams when needed.
  • Maintaining accurate documentation such as incident reports and behavioral logs.
  • Ensuring compliance with HIPAA and safety policies.
  • Participating in all required professional training and staff meetings.
