About The Position

Join a high-volume team in the Department of Ophthalmology's Retina and Retinal Disorders & Ophthalmic Genetics clinic in Westwood! We're looking for a skilled and dependable Ophthalmic Technician Lead to provide patient care and support daily operations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Coordinating patient care and clinic flow Overseeing daily back-office operations and exam room readiness Providing technical support for Ophthalmologists and Optometrists Maintaining the perimetry and OCT/topography labs Training and supporting ophthalmic staff Assisting with process improvements and quality initiatives Supporting special projects as assigned by the Practice Manager

Requirements

Current certification as Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT).
Minimum 5 years recent experience providing technical support in Ophthalmology practice.
Skill in acquiring accurate medical history, measuring, and recording visual acuity, and tonometry.
Familiarity with signs and symptoms of various ophthalmic problems to answer patient-related questions and triage calls when urgent evaluation is required.
Knowledge of the operations and maintenance of patient-related testing equipment.
Excellent interpersonal skills to promote comfortable, cooperative and effective working relationships with patients, physicians and staff.
Ability to identify and define complex problems and develop and implement solutions for quality and process improvement.
Strong organizational and prioritization skills to effectively coordinate and promote the patient care activities.
Skill in setting goals which accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities and the strategic priorities of the clinic.
Familiarity with computerized EHR(s) and patient appointment scheduling system(s).
Ability to organize technician work schedules for continuous coverage.
Ability to analyze clinical and administrative information to determine appropriate course(s) of action to resolve conflicts and discrepancies.
Ability to learn state of the art diagnostic equipment.
Ability to organize and prioritize duties to maximize clinic efficiency.
Ability to collaborate with Practice Manager and/or Associate Administrator in problem solving and implementing new and continuing patient care systems.
Ability to work independently using effective problem-solving techniques while adhering to Departmental and University practices and policies.
Ability to organize technician work schedules for continuous coverage.

Nice To Haves

Experience working in a university-based medical facility/academic teaching environment.
Experience on ordering and maintaining logs on high-cost Intravitreal injections, such Eylea, Eylea HD, Vabysmo & Lucentis.
