About The Position

Cleveland-Cliffs Steel has an immediate opportunity for a dynamic Lead Operator Technician at our East Chicago, Indiana operation. The role will be part of our United Steelworkers (USW) union compensation, benefits, and pension agreement. Summary of Responsibilities: Responsible for providing 24/7 operational services necessary to maintain Cleveland-Cliff’s service level expectations for availability, performance and responsiveness to problems. Fixing problems with Mainframe production workloads, collecting documentation as necessary to turn over problems to the support staff. Calling out support analysts to fix problems as defined in the recovery procedures, performing scheduled activities. Performing routine monitoring of the network, hardware, software and environmental systems. Resolving user production and non-production system problems, documenting problems in the service management system. Taking a lead reporting on recovery efforts for all major IT production outages. Provides Help Desk support during the hours when the help desk is not staffed Other duties as assigned. Requirements

  • Knowledge of IBM Mainframe (zSeries) Operations.
  • Basic Knowledge of web development/server concept.
  • Basic Knowledge of PC/Server/network concepts.
  • Ability to work in a structured environment through creation and maintenance of procedures so all issues are handled in a consistent manner.
  • Ability to facilitate / cooperate with others to accomplish shared objectives.
  • Active team player with strong work ethic who is able to foster working relationships with peers, management and customers.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Testing required.
