About The Position

This position is staffed to provide mentoring for First Line Managers in Operations and support groups. The role supports personnel across multiple facilities and environments, including day shift, backshift, and weekend operations. The position provides education, oversight, mentoring, and evaluation to ensure effective leadership, operational excellence, and adherence to SRTE and SRS expectations. This role performs senior-level operational, technical, and programmatic functions and is generally acknowledged as the highest-level subject matter expert in a staff position for the function or area supported. Purpose of Position Provide mentoring for First Line Managers in Operations and support groups in the following areas: SRTE Process Knowledge Conduct of Operations Employee and Personal Accountability Management Expectations Employee Development Time Management The position supports effective use of time and effort as a SRTE First Line Manager and evaluates performance across multiple operational environments.

Requirements

  • NLT twenty years of experience in SRTE Operations and Maintenance, including Operations Management leadership experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of the assigned functional area.
  • Thorough understanding of facility-specific operations, systems, and equipment.
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable policies, practices, procedures, DOE Orders, and regulatory statutes.
  • Subject Matter Expert in: SRS site-level procedures (2S, 1Y, 5B) SRTE-specific process knowledge Personnel development
  • Ability to assess operational and leadership performance against best-practice standards.
  • DOE 'Q' clearance required. An active DOE clearance is not initially required; selected candidates will be notified when to apply based on work assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, implement, and administer broad or unique programmatic, technical, or administrative functions in direct or indirect support of operations.
  • Provide immediate-level guidance, work direction, oversight, and leadership to functional work groups, sections, or units in an operations or operations support capacity.
  • Act in a lead capacity and may direct the work of exempt and nonexempt employees in a non-supervisory role.
  • Perform complex, advanced, and diverse functions supporting operations within assigned areas.
  • Receive assignments as objectives and establish goals to meet those objectives.
  • Exhibit competency at the highest technical or programmatic level through personal expertise and effective leadership.
  • Provide centralized control of programs or processes supporting operations.
  • Interpret and communicate programmatic, technical, or process changes to operations personnel.
  • Monitor and assess operations-related evolutions in facility systems or equipment.
  • Ensure safe and optimally efficient operation of facility systems and equipment.
  • Perform periodic reviews and assessments to ensure systems are operating properly and maintained within required limits.
  • Maintain awareness of scheduled or anticipated work evolutions that could impact facility operations.
  • Identify positive and adverse performance trends and develop recommendations to mitigate or enhance performance.
  • Prepare and/or review facility work packages and work control processes.
  • Review and ensure communication and understanding of new or revised technical and operations procedures.
  • Conduct training for operations personnel and evaluate and critique performance.
  • Function in contingency coordinator roles as required.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to management related to work group performance.
  • May provide relief for or represent the next immediate level of management.
  • Mentor and evaluate SRTE Operations First Line Managers and support groups, including: Tritium Facilities Lab FLMs Reservoir Surveillance SOMs Outside Facilities FLMs Evaluate performance against an Apprentice Checklist.
  • Conduct evaluations in multiple environments, including in-position and one-on-one settings, on both day shift and backshift.
  • Provide processing best practices input on an ad-hoc basis.
  • Assess progress toward best-practice standards and endorse or remediate candidates as appropriate.
