About The Position

As a Lead on Duty (LoD), you will have the opportunity to ensure store security, smooth store operations, and a positive shopping experience for guests. You will collaborate with your coworkers to provide the highest level of service possible to Willy Street Co-ops internal and external customers. You will report and document any shift issues to management.

  • Experience or knowledge in multiple departments (e.g., front end/cashier, deli, cheese counter, juice/coffee bar, produce, meat/seafood, grocery, or general merchandise)
  • Previous experience working in a co-operative organization

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate completion of tasks to ensure that displays and shelves are fully stocked, that the store is maintained in good condition, and that retail and work areas are maintained in clean, safe, and orderly condition.
  • Delegate tasks to store staff or complete them yourself, including the following:
  • Ensure that the store opens and closes on time
  • Maintain floor presence to ensure efficient and friendly customer service; troubleshoot customer questions
  • Ensure all displays are fully stocked, faced and rotated to ensure freshness
  • Observe the status of each department and report discrepancies, out-of-stocks, performance problems or other relevant conditions to management
  • Monitor all staff and provide guidance and direction as required
  • Ensure coverage in instances of staffing gaps
  • Coordinate and cover department breaks
  • Inform Logistics team of inaccurate shelf labels or other logistics related concerns
  • Oversee staff adherence to established safety procedures
  • Uphold all policies and procedures
  • Keep the store in clean, orderly condition during shift; eliminate hazardous conditions immediately
  • Maintain an authoritative presence; attempt to deter theft or any criminal activity
  • Follow appropriate closing procedures and ensure that the store is locked and secure for the night
  • Ensure consistent handling of emergencies in accordance with established procedures
  • Greet and offer assistance to customers
  • Treat people fairly, consistently and with respect
  • Know product locations in order to assist customers in finding what they need
  • Abide by all co-op policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook and other company documents
  • Participate in required training and meetings
  • Maintain a positive attitude and collaborative spirit
  • Answer phones as necessary
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by a Supervisor
