Implement a comprehensive program of health services for the District; supervise district campus nurses and provide direct health services to students / staff; promote health education and preventive health practices for students, staff and parents.

Coordinate the development of campus health education curriculum and provide health education to individuals and groups.

Keep abreast and train appropriate staff regarding current medical and nursing issues, protocols and procedure
Prepare, coordinate and assist in presenting staff development for campus nurses, RN, and LVN
Coordinate all aspects of the district bloodborne pathogen exposure control plan, including employee education, annual assessments and reports, vaccine programs, annual budget, inventory and supply requisition and disbursement, and exposure incident intervention
Train and assist campus and substitutes nurses in the use of the electronic management system
Assist nursing and other pertinent staff on the creation, and maintenance of nursing care plans for the medically fragile students of the district
Participate and contribute to critical in-district meetings such as, Admission, Review and Dismissal Committee (ARD), District crisis team, and district committees
Collaborate and coordinate with external health care professionals and organizations regarding implementation of health-related services for staff and students
Confer regularly with the district’s consulting medical doctor regarding nursing procedures, protocols and standing orders
Provide consistent and comprehensive communication with the Assistant
Consult frequently with campus principals regarding health care practices and events involving the campus nurse or operations of the school clinic

Compile and accurately maintain all required health records, whether physical or electronic including nurse office records
Ensure the accurate, systematic maintenance of student records
Assist in the recruitment and interviewing of new nursing staff members and provide training and orientation for all new campus nurses, substitute nurses and staff members assisting in the nurse office
Supervise, compile and submit all reports required by the Texas Department of State Health Services including, but not limited to student immunization report, vision screening report, hearing screening report and spinal screening report.
Prepare and work within an annual department budget accounting for repairs, new equipment, trainings, and system updates
Conduct monthly checks of district AED and appropriately supply
Conduct district inventory of all district campus nurse offices supplies; order supplies for the coming year and ensure the timely distribution of supplies to each campus
Maintain inventory of all nurse office equipment; allow budget money for repairs and schedule all required upkeep and certifications on equipment
Comply with all policies established by federal and state laws, Texas Department of State Health Service, CDC, State Board of Education rules, Texas Board of Nursing and the school district
Maintain confidentiality, follow all HIPAA and FERPA guidelines
Catalog, maintain and repair all district vision machines and audiometers including yearly calibrations
Contributes to the development of District and Campus Improvement plans to address health and wellness
Provide leadership in coordination of multi - disciplinary health care resources
Assist with the contact and location of parent / guardian is medical crisis situations
Assist Athletic department with student drug testing and yearly athletic physicals on multiple campuses
Prepare student medications and teacher training for off campus trips, including the possible transportation of medication and/or supplies to the district site
Maintain current State of Texas Nursing License
Maintain current CPR / AED trainer certification
Maintain all necessary state certifications, including vision, hearing and spinal

Supervise all Pine Tree ISD Campus nurses and nurse substitutes
Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program
Hold valid registered nurse license to practice professional nursing in Texas from the State Board of Nurse Examiners
Experience as a school nurse strongly preferred
Experience with supervision of LVN’s
Certified by the Texas Department of State Health Services to conduct and record student assessments such as, vision, hearing and spinal screenings
Certification by the Texas Department of State Health Services to vision screen with a Spot Vision Camera
CPR-AED Instructor Certification
Knowledge of health appraisal to identify student health concerns
