About The Position

The Lead Network Security Specialist works as part of a dynamic team and is responsible for all things perimeter security. You will work with infrastructure and application teams to aid in design and provide solutions to technical networking problems. In this role, the person will also be responsible for customer requests which include whitelisting, vpns and debugging. As the Lead, the person will be responsible for maintenance, sizing and monitoring of devices and ensuring we are continuously monitoring the perimeter.

Requirements

  • 10+ years network security experience
  • 5+ years WAF / Checkpoint NGFW
  • Experience creating and managing policies, procedures, standards and guidelines.
  • CCSE [R81.20]
  • Experience with SDLC methodologies such as SCRUM, Agile, DevOps

Nice To Haves

  • Insurance experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Subject matter expert in WAF, NGFW, IDS/IPS, VPN and network security
  • Develops network layouts, including LANs, WANs, and intranets, tailored to business needs ensuring proper network segmentation and access controls.
  • Creates detailed network diagrams, documentation, metrics and reports.
  • Maintains records of configurations, policies, and procedures.
  • Establishes firewalls, VPNs, WAF’s and encryption protocols to protect systems.
  • Ensure firewall and network architecture, adhere to secure principles
  • Ensure emerging threats are in view and mitigations are in place and mapped to the enterprise delivery of its products and services.
  • Work with and support infrastructure and application projects / teams
  • Work with internal and external clients to investigate and resolve issues related to production level network systems
  • Monitors for vulnerabilities and respond to threats ensuring all are patched or virtually patched.
  • Performance - Continuously assesses network efficiency and resolves latency issues.
  • Create and maintain a tactical (1 year) network security roadmap, initiatives, and improvements. Proactively identify security gaps and vulnerabilities within the network infrastructure and develop plans to address them.
  • Develop and maintain scripts and custom tools to streamline security operations, improve efficiency, and reduce manual effort. (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell, etc.)
