About The Position

The Lead Navigator is responsible for using sound professional judgment and best practices to ensure quality services are provided the service population especially in crisis situations while maintaining compliance with established program standards. Lead Navigator will supervise a team of 2 Navigators and lead through coaching & mentoring, while ensuring grant requirements are met and documented.

Requirements

  • Required - Bachelor’s degree in a human service field or related field or currently enrolled in an advanced degree program.
  • Required: High School Diploma.
  • Required - If applicant does not have 18hrs of social work on transcript, then a Family Services Certificate must be obtained within 6 months of hire. INK will pay for 1st certification test. If test is failed, subsequent tests will be paid for by the applicant.
  • Demonstrate the ability to:
  • Respond sensitively and competently to the service population’s cultural and socio-economic characteristics.
  • Communicate effectively in writing and verbally in English and Spanish.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintain computer literacy required to meet the responsibilities of the position.
  • Work effectively and without intensive supervision both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Travel locally as needed.
  • Manage time effectively and efficiently.
  • Will follow all procedures of the INK personnel manual.
  • Must possess a current and valid drivers license

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred 1-year related direct service experience.
  • Bilingual preferred (Spanish)

Responsibilities

  • Outreach and recruitment of participants for classes, including efforts for minimizing attrition.
  • Directly supervise 2 Navigators and provide direct support/supervision.
  • Establishes and maintains a trusting and professional working relationship with families by providing regular contact with Navigators through weekly check-ins.
  • Ensure that all intake, assessments, and screening tools to clients and family members are complete & accurately reported.
  • Utilizes intake and assessment results to establish and effectively implement goals, objectives, and activities identified with Navigators.
  • Records all group and individualized services and activities in a complete, concise, and timely manner utilizing program forms into informational software/databases.
  • Meets with Grant Director on a regular basis to evaluate status of families on caseload of Navigators.
  • Provide training and technical support to Navigators, troubleshooting on behalf of grant leadership.
  • Make recommendations for community action to the Outreach and Data Specialist, which may involve executing plans independently.
  • Act as first line of communication between clients of Navigators and clients for urgent feedback or program-related concerns. Must be able to independently problem-solve on behalf of direct leadership.
  • Obtains and maintains certification in SafeCare curriculum administration.
  • Enroll and partner in serving a maximum of 5 clients and provide sessions of services as per Thriving Texas Families guidelines.
  • Provide parent & health education, case management, resource and referrals, basic needs support, transportation assistance, and/or other support services to families on caseload.
  • Document all attendance on a weekly basis in informational software.
  • Attend all required trainings.
  • Provide community education on child abuse prevention strategies.
  • Develop together with Grant Director & Outreach and Data Specialist, updates, reminders, and community education information.
  • Learn, live and coach one team, one mission culture and values. Lead through change by bringing clarity, generating energy and delivering success.
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens and maintain emotional control, and professional composure, at all times.
  • Provide proof or work eligibility status upon request.
  • Pass a pre-employment and biennial criminal background and motor vehicle check (fingerprints needed if applicant has lived out of state within the past 5 years)
