Lead MRI Technologist oversees the technical staff in the designated section(s) of the department and is acting MRSO. The Lead assumes responsibility for the safety of their patients and colleagues in their designated work area and takes corrective action when necessary to maintain such safety. The MRI Lead oversees technical procedures, patient care, and workflow to ensure safe and effective patient care and acts as a role model and facilitator working in collaboration with all level of departmental personnel. Generate high quality reproducible MRI scans based on physician orders and established protocols. Obtain accurate medical histories and screen patients for any MRI contraindications. Explain the MRI procedure and address questions or concerns the patient may have. Investigate and research implanted devices as needed. The Lead is responsible for directing and triaging the daily workflow, assigning staff and resources to ensure efficient patient care and timely delivery of imaging services. Ensures compliance for all QC and QA for all regulatory and accreditation agencies as required Re-educating and training staff technologists when imaging is not up to department standards and expectations. Training and onboarding new staff, conducting competency evaluations, regularly assess departmental processes and team skillsets and recommend improvements to enhance performance, and serving as a clinical mentor or instructor for affiliated programs. Responsible for initiating intravenous access on patients, prepare and administer contrast agents when necessary, remove intravenous catheters and apply patient dressings. Including monitoring, biopsy, power injector and all other MRI related equipment. Recognize problems / malfunctions of equipment and possess the ability to troubleshoot and perform routine equipment checks. Ensure image quality: Evaluate images for acceptable image quality and completeness. Adhere to established safety standards, policies and regulations: Follow all MRI safety protocols and practices to protect patients and staff from any MRI related adverse events. Communicate effectively and respectfully with all hospital staff inside or outside of the MRI and radiology departments with a strong attention to detail, team-oriented, self-motivated and results driven, a desire for personal growth and readiness to identify and overcome challenges, and receptive to feedback.
