In the mortgage industry, that means helping lenders, QC firms, and underwriting teams move faster with cleaner data, fewer errors, and intelligent automation. We are looking for a Lead Mortgage Auditor – Automation & Customer Delivery to join our growing mortgage automation team. This is not a traditional auditor role. This is a customer-facing domain leadership role that sits at the intersection of: Mortgage Auditing AI-powered workflow automation Product & Engineering collaboration Customer success and delivery Let’s talk about the Cons first We are growing fast. That means: You will need to adapt quickly and operate without heavy handholding. You will interact with customers who expect domain authority and clear answers. You will work closely with product and engineering teams and will be expected to translate complex underwriting rules into structured system logic. You will coordinate across US and India teams, which requires strong communication and ownership. You will be responsible for preventing customer complaints — which means high accountability. This is not a passive audit execution role. It requires ownership, clarity, and confidence. Now let’s talk about the good stuff We are a team of about 300 people — structured, established, and still ambitious. You will work directly with Product, Engineering, CSMs, and leadership. You will influence how mortgage audit automation is designed — not just execute it. You will help shape the future of AI-powered mortgage workflows. Our teams are distributed across the US, Europe, and India — collaboration is global and meaningful. In short, your job is to ensure mortgage customers successfully adopt and trust our AI-powered audit platform — by combining deep domain knowledge with structured thinking and cross-functional collaboration. We aspire to build category-defining mortgage automation. We are looking for someone who wants to help shape that journey.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in US Residential Mortgage Underwriting or Post-Closing QC with direct responsibility for full loan file review.
  • Deep working knowledge of Conventional, FHA, VA, USDA, Jumbo, and Non-QM guidelines, with the ability to interpret and apply investor overlays.
  • Proven experience reviewing complete loan files including income (self-employed preferred), assets, credit, appraisal, compliance, and closing documentation.
  • Ability to break down complex underwriting decisions into clear, structured explanations and documented findings.
  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated ability to identify root causes, not just surface-level deficiencies.
  • Comfortable engaging with customers, defending audit positions, and explaining guideline interpretations confidently.
  • Experience working in distributed or cross-functional environments, collaborating with product, operations, or offshore teams.
  • Ability to operate independently in a US-based remote role with required overlap across time zones.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with LOS or QC platforms.
  • Familiarity with TRID, ATR/QM, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Prior exposure to mortgage automation or AI-based document processing tools.
  • Strong analytical thinking and structured problem-solving ability.
  • Experience supporting distributed or offshore audit teams.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary mortgage audit SME during onboarding, pilots, and go-live phases.
  • Conduct end-to-end QC validation across income, assets, credit, appraisal, compliance, and closing documentation.
  • Present audit findings clearly to customers and explain system outputs in underwriting language.
  • Translate underwriting and QC checklists into structured automation workflows.
  • Work with Product and Engineering to clarify guideline logic, exception handling, and calculation methodologies.
  • Validate AI-generated audit outputs and flag discrepancies.
  • Ensure customer work is delivered accurately and within defined SLAs.
  • Partner with India-based audit and DP teams to ensure consistent interpretation of guidelines.
  • Identify gaps between customer guidelines and platform behavior.
  • Support smooth transition from pilot to scaled delivery.
  • Drive continuous process improvement and feedback loops.
