Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of the elevator industry and general management methods within the elevator industry.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, and deal with several abstract and concreate variables.
  • Knowledge and skill in the use of hand and electrical tools such as grinders, drill motors, and coring machines.
  • Knowledge and skill in the use of electrical reading and testing equipment, hoisting and rigging equipment, chain tackles, etc.
  • Works well independently and with others.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Organized with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and stressful environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least five years of modernization experience required.
  • Prolonged periods standing and walking.
  • Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean, and repair elevators.
  • Must be able to visually inspect elevators.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in training modernization department staff.
  • Supports company safety program, which includes performing safety audits when necessary and stressing the importance of safety to all employees.
  • Visits job sites and performs quality audits to ensure the modernization project is being completed efficiently and in a cost-effective manner, per the cost estimate.
  • Identifies issues that could potentially affect the overall reliability of the customer’s equipment.
  • Provides technical input to sales staff on the scope of work and materials needed to bid mod work, which includes calculating labor and material costs.
  • Works with branch manager to address customer’s needs.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of all federal, state, and local elevator industry code requirements.
  • Maintains strong familiarity of industry products by reviewing equipment updates and supplier goods.
  • Manages the elevator modernization process and ensures modernizations are completed in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
  • Assists in completing modernizations in a professional and profitable manner.
  • Assists in conducting modernizations and inspection of elevators and related devices to ensure their effective and efficient operation and conformance to safety regulations and OSHA requirements.
  • Assists in determining the suitability of present elevator equipment, proposed modifications, and new equipment.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned by Branch Manager.
