About The Position

The Cloud Platform Engineering team builds and operates the highly available, active-active mission-critical infrastructure that powers Salesforce at scale. We treat the internal cloud as a product designed to maximize developer velocity through automation-first thinking and a strict "No Ticket-Ops" philosophy. We are defining the next generation of platform engineering by running a LEAN, innovative team that leverages AI as much as humanly possible. By integrating AI agents directly into our GitOps workflows and our enterprise WorkOS (Slack), we aim to build a smart, secure platform that our internal developers love. As the Lead Member of Technical Staff, you are the technical visionary for our next-generation internal cloud platform. While the Manager determines what we build, you determine how it gets built. You are responsible for designing the foundational blueprints, network topologies, and security standards that the rest of the engineering team will implement. Additionally, you will serve as the primary technical advisor to our internal customers (application development teams), guiding them on how to securely and efficiently deploy their mission-critical workloads onto our platform.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of cloud infrastructure experience, with at least 3 years operating as a Lead Architect for enterprise-scale environments.
  • Expert-level knowledge of enterprise cloud architecture, including massive-scale multi-account strategies and centralized network transit.
  • Deep expertise in designing highly resilient, active-active distributed systems and stateless microservices architectures.
  • Strong programming/scripting skills and a deep appreciation for modern Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) paradigms.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Architecture & Design: Architect the enterprise multi-account cloud landing zone, designing highly available, active-active multi-region architectures capable of automated, deterministic failover.
  • Zero-Trust Networking: Architect global transit networks that enforce strict "Private-by-Default" segmentation and centralized egress inspection.
  • Standards & Technical Governance: Establish the technical standards and security baselines (translating NIST 800-53 R5) that will be codified into reusable "Golden Modules" by the SRE team.
  • Customer Advisory: Act as the principal consultant for internal application teams, advising them on cloud-native application design, state replication, and platform onboarding.

Benefits

  • time off programs
  • medical, dental, vision, mental health support
  • paid parental leave
  • life and disability insurance
  • 401(k)
  • an employee stock purchasing program
