The Lead Medical Technologist is responsible for providing technical guidance to peers while still performing routine and specialized laboratory testing on blood, urine, tissue and other body fluid secretions. Position: Lead Medical Technologist Department: Lab Schedule: Full Time ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES: Responsible for accurate performance of all procedures, coordinating scheduling, instrument maintenance and troubleshooting. Coordinates CAP survey performance and reporting. Observes functions of the section and makes suggestions on ways to better streamline operations. Oversees the administration of proficiency testing. Assists in the reviewing of policies and procedures, advising on new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Reviews daily reports, including certain specimen reports makes changes if needed and reviews with supervisor. Assumes responsibility for training all new staff in all necessary areas of the section. Monitors and maintains competency of all staff throughout the section on an annual basis. Contributes to ongoing compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies for the section (including but not limited to AABB, JCAHO, CAP, OSHA, DPH, NCCLS, and CLIA). Accountable for productivity in the assigned Laboratory. Performs all duties of a medical technologist as needed. Performs other related duties as .
