Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (or related field)
  • Meets CLIA (42 CFR 493.1489) requirements for testing personnel
  • Certification: MLT (ASCP)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification with the American Heart Association
  • Strong communication, leadership, and customer service skills
  • Ability to stay calm and effective in emergency/high-pressure situations

Responsibilities

  • Perform moderate & high complexity testing on blood and body fluid specimens
  • Oversee assigned laboratory discipline(s) and daily workflows
  • Ensure accuracy and reliability through QC, calibration, and maintenance
  • Utilize and maintain proficiency in the Laboratory Information System (LIS)
  • Maintain records and stats in compliance with regulatory standards
  • Collaborate with phlebotomy and clinical staff to ensure proper specimen collection
  • Troubleshoot equipment, test methods, and specimen issues
  • Train and mentor new staff and students
  • Communicate critical results and issues to medical and nursing teams
  • Review and oversee technical staff performance
  • Support a culture of teamwork, accountability, and innovation
  • Act as a key liaison between lab staff and leadership
  • Help resolve technical and personnel challenges in real time
  • Lead team-building efforts and foster a positive, collaborative environment
  • Recommend workflow improvements to enhance patient care
