About The Position

We are seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to manage the development of innovative medical devices. In this role, you will work as part of a team driving products through their lifecycle from concept to delivery. We are on the hunt for a leader with a maker-space mentality who is motivated, hands-on, a self-starter with strong critical thinking skills and a sense of ownership. How will you make a difference as a Lead Mechanical Engineer: Create innovative product designs from design concept to production, incorporating new research and machine learning technologies. Work with multi-disciplinary team including electrical, software, industrial design, controls, and systems engineers, along with Quality, Regulatory, human factors, safety testing, and external vendors. Interface with team to establish design requirements and product attributes. Drive concept ideation – white board / CAD / FEA / prototypes. Establish overall system architecture with team and define hardware subsystems. Define tasks and estimate associated labor in support of program management schedules. Develop FMEAs. Evaluate designs through simulation, prototype testing, usability studies, and engineering testing of requirements. Transition concepts into products using 3D CAD Solid Modeling, selecting materials and processes, interacting with suppliers and manufacturers, and documenting the design input/output, and other development processes. Demonstrate design viability considering human factors, risk, reliability, manufacturability, innovation, weight, and cost. Troubleshoot design failure modes to root cause and develop quick, effective solutions. Develop engineering test methods and transfer them to design verification team. Technical review and approval for all mechanical component and assembly designs, analyses, and engineering testing. Lead a team of 7-10 personnel: engineers, CAD designers, interns. Set an excellent example of mechanical engineering practices and provide a level of mentorship to less knowledgeable engineers
