About The Position

The Lead Pipe Stress Engineer is responsible for performing and managing piping stress analyses for LNG equipment design projects. This role ensures compliance with engineering standards, industry codes, project specifications, and safety requirements. The position involves collaboration across engineering disciplines and occasional domestic and international travel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in pipe stress analysis or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of ASME B31.3 Process Piping code and/ or other international standards.
  • Proficiency in pipe stress analysis tools (Bentley AutoPIPE preferred, CAESAR II).
  • Solid understanding of engineering principles for piping systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree (MS in Mechanical Engineering or related field).
  • LNG or related industry experience.
  • Ability to interpret P&IDs.
  • Familiarity with ASME BPVC VIII Div 1 & 2, ASCE 7, and IBC standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools
  • Knowledge of dynamic analysis techniques and tools.
  • Experience with FEA tools (NozzlePro, FEPipe, ANSYS).
  • Ability to navigate 3D CAD models (Hexagon Smart 3D and Review).
  • Practical field experience and strong problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform stress analysis on piping systems per ASME B31.3 and applicable international standards.
  • Model piping systems for flexibility, stability, and nozzle load qualification.
  • Utilize pipe stress analysis software (Bentley AutoPIPE preferred; CAESAR II acceptable).
  • Review EPC and customer specifications during project bidding and execution phases.
  • Act as principal piping stress engineer throughout project lifecycle.
  • Review and approve stress calculations and project deliverables.
  • Participate in model review meetings at major milestones (30%, 60%, 90%).
  • Maintain internal standards, work instructions, and templates for stress analysis.
  • Collaborate with structural engineers, designers, and pressure vessel engineers.
  • Provide technical guidance and resolve complex pipe stress issues.
  • Support occasional plant visits and international field repairs.
