About The Position

Lead Material Handler is responsible for grouping orders and coordinating the activities of Material Handlers as they fulfill store orders, receive outside vendor materials and put away Sundries and Finished Paint in the warehouse. The Lead is also responsible for knowing where each handler is at all times, coordinating lunch and break coverage as needed, monitoring maintenance issues, as well as informing supervisors of issues with staffing, or any major repairs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 3-6 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret in English, documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize and Group all daily orders in SAP.
  • Ensures decisions made during the grouping process result in maintaining inventory accuracy.
  • Supports Six Sigma 5S standards and works to meet and exceed housekeeping standards.
  • Distribute daily assignments and maintain awareness of daily tasks.
  • Is fair and consistent in assigning a variety of tasks to Material Handlers.
  • This position is the first line of leadership to answer questions and solve problems that Material Handlers have while completing assignments.
  • Promotes disciplined execution of processes and inventory control while resolving problems that arise.
  • Responsible for effectively communicating problems and errors to Foreman, Supervisors and Managers and using proven problem-solving tools to prevent recurrence.
  • Submit error logs to the appropriate designee to be included in quality tracking reports.
  • Responsible for creating a culture that embraces safe work practices and delivers outstanding safety results and embraces quality on time results.
  • Continue standard Material Handler duties as assigned.
