Lead Manufacturing Engineer, New Product Introduction (NPI)

Overland AISeattle, WA
20h$160,000 - $190,000

About The Position

Overland AI is transforming land operations for modern defense. The company leverages over a decade of advanced research in robotics and machine learning, as well as a field-test forward ethos, to deliver combined capabilities for unit commanders. Our OverDrive autonomy stack enables ground vehicles to navigate and operate off-road in any terrain without GPS or direct operator control. Our intuitive OverWatch C2 interface provides commanders with precise coordination capabilities essential for mission success. Overland AI has secured funding from prominent defense tech investors, including 8VC and Point 72, and built trusted partnerships with DARPA, the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, and Special Operations Command. Backed by eight-figure contracts across the Department of Defense, we are strengthening national security by iterating closely with end users engaged in tactical operations. Overland’s vehicle production team is seeking a Lead NPI Manufacturing Engineer to help develop and launch our autonomous off-road vehicles. Your experience with Assembly, Integration, and Testing (AIT) will play a critical role across the integration of mechanical and electrical subsystems. In this role, you will be the key link between design engineering and early production, with a focus on DFx (primarily integration and manufacturability). You’ll help develop integration workflows, first-pass test interfaces, and production-ready tools and systems. This is a deeply hands-on role for an engineer who thrives on the shop floor at the intersection of design, prototyping, and system-level problem solving for new products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years integrating complex electromechanical systems from prototype through production.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency with SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
  • Proven expertise in multi-subsystem integration—combining mechanical, electrical, and data interfaces into one functioning hardware product.
  • Experience implementing and optimizing a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) such as First Resonance ION.
  • Excellent cross-functional communication skills across design, manufacturing, and technician teams.
  • Experience creating or optimizing integration and assembly processes for large, complex systems.
  • Hands-on, floor-oriented problem solver who thrives in fast-moving environments.
  • Experience owning BOM structures, configuration management, and ECO (engineering change order) processes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine manufacturing integration flows that decompose the Ultra vehicle platform into logical subassemblies and build sequences, ensuring efficient and repeatable builds.
  • Maintain configuration control across a large multi-level BOM as the hardware configuration evolves.
  • Collaborate with design engineering to drive design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and design-for-integration (DFI) feedback into new releases.
  • Translate engineering intent into clear and concise build documentation (torque specs, harness routing, key inspections and tests).
  • Drive continuous improvement across the build process, through hands-on understanding and feedback from the engineering technicians.

Benefits

  • The salary range for this position is $160K to $190K annually
  • Equity compensation
  • Best-in-class healthcare, dental and vision plans
  • Flexible PTO
  • 401k with company match
  • Parental leave
