About The Position

Under the supervision of the Designated Program Director, the Lead Maintenance Worker is responsible for ensuring all Mirror owned facilities and mechanical equipment contained within those facilities are in a safe and working order.. The Lead Maintenance Staff person shall operate in accordance with the policies set forth by the Board of Directors and as implemented by his/her supervisors and all parties involved shall abide by all applicable laws and regulations. Duties include oversight of Mirror properties, vehicle up-keep, conformance to life and fire safety codes, completing, assisting with over-sight of large scale projects, training additional maintenance team members, or scheduling of facility repairs and purchasing of facility mechanical equipment and supplies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Educational Development certificate.
  • Vocational/Technical courses and/or work related experience in building maintenance, building systems, climate/environmental control systems, plumbing, and/or light electrical is required.
  • Experience in facility maintenance and vehicle maintenance is required.
  • Good reading, writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize and follow through with multiple tasks related to the facility repairs for a multiple-site agency.
  • Capable of working over-time hours past 40.
  • Available on-call basis to handle "major" problems related to facility maintenance or operation.
  • Awareness of the disease of addiction.
  • Must be able to pass background/security check.
  • Employees who have been diagnosed with any type of substance use disorder or behavioral addiction/compulsion must have sustained a minimum of two consecutive years of abstinence from all intoxicating substances and symptoms of their chemical and/or behavioral addiction; and must be in full sustained remission.
  • This position involves working, climbing stairs, bending, shoveling, lifting (or assisting) up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite and Outlook.
  • Must be able to travel to the Mirror facilities in order to perform maintenance repairs on an as needed basis. Mirror sites include but are not limited to Newton, Kansas City, Wichita, Hutchinson and Topeka, etc... Some overnight stays may be required on occasion.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in supervising and interacting with persons addicted to drugs or the offender/prison population would be desirable.
  • Computer literacy would be a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain client/offender and program confidentiality as required by federal law.
  • Supervise those offenders/clients assigned to assist you with building maintenance tasks.
  • Under the supervision of the Program Director ensure the safety of the residents/clients and staff by ensuring all Mirror properties are free from potential hazards and meet all fire and life safety codes.
  • Assist the Program Director with the maintenance or scheduling of maintenance for assigned location agency vehicles.
  • Under the supervision of the Program Director maintain facilities and equipment in a workable and safe condition. Make minor repairs, as necessary.
  • Assist the Program Director with the inventory of facility supplies and the monitoring of facility report forms.
  • Price and compare prices and availability of parts and service for everyday facility repairs/maintenance.
  • Under the direction of the Program Director keep all buildings inspected and problem solve for compliance issues relate to fire and life safety codes.
  • Assist the Program Director and Chief Financial Operating Officer by keeping detailed records of service and/or replacement work on "large ticket" building or environmental systems. Provide oversight of outside vendors (contractors) when the Maintenance Manager is unable to do so.
  • Purchase maintenance and operational supplies with oversight from appropriate facility management(facility mechanical equipment or supplies, furniture, fixtures, flooring, etc…).
  • Designated liaison with government building inspectors (when we are building a new facility or remodeling or renovating an existing facility or parking area). May involve some interaction with zoning personnel at times.
  • Inspect jobs completed by contractors and do final punch list for any new construction projects for designated area projects.
  • Train new maintenance staff as necessary.
  • Be a point of contact for any maintenance related questions or issues in a designated area.
  • On call and available to handle or answer questions related to major facility maintenance/operation problems.
  • Perform other duties as directed by Program Director or other management team members.
