PRIMARY PURPOSE/GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Lead Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for assisting in developing maintenance procedures and ensuring implementation. The Lead Maintenance Mechanic will assist in leading the team of Utility Maintenance Mechanics to carry out inspections of facilities to identify and resolve issues as well as checking HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and hydraulic systems of buildings to ensure functionality. The Lead Maintenance Mechanic will participate in leadership and technical training pertinent to the position. In absence of a Maintenance Manager, the Lead Maintenance Mechanic will report to the Director of Facilities Operations. The Lead Maintenance Mechanic will work closely with the Associate Director of Planning & Construction for planned preventative maintenance activities and new and ongoing campus projects. This position emphasizes oversight of Building Management and Automation Systems (BMS/BAS), management of the campus-wide Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), supporting campus sustainability, and coordinating with internal and external partners for system upgrades and modernization.
