About The Position

Tommy’s Logistics Lead will be the point person for the logistics team objectives and primarily be responsible for scheduling inbound and outbound freight shipments, including FTL, LTL, and international cargo containers. The ideal candidate will have experience with international logistics brokerage. The Logistics Lead will work closely with both Fulfillment and Purchasing to ensures that all loads are scheduled appropriately, and that all product arrives on time to its respective destination. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, International Trade, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience) a plus but not required.
  • 3–5+ years of hands-on logistics experience, with a strong emphasis on international shipping operations.
  • Demonstrated experience managing both domestic and international freight in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven track record working with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and carriers across multiple modes of transportation.
  • In-depth knowledge of international trade compliance, including customs clearance procedures, import/export documentation, and regulatory requirements.
  • Direct experience coordinating with customs brokers to ensure timely clearance and accurate submission of commercial invoices, packing lists, HTS codes, and country-of-origin documentation.
  • Strong working knowledge of Incoterms (EXW, FOB, CIF, DDP, etc.) and their financial and operational impact.
  • Experience managing ocean freight (FCL and LCL), including container booking, sailing schedules, demurrage/detention management, and port coordination.
  • Experience coordinating air freight shipments, including expedited and high-value cargo.
  • Understanding of container freight operations, container types, load planning, and international transit timelines.
  • Ability to proactively identify and resolve international shipping delays, customs holds, and compliance issues.
  • Experience coordinating domestic LTL, FTL, parcel, and expedited shipments.
  • Familiarity with domestic carrier selection, routing optimization, and cost control.
  • Ability to manage delivery schedules, track shipments, and resolve service failures.
  • Experience using ERP, TMS, or logistics management systems (QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, or similar systems preferred).
  • Proficiency in shipment tracking, documentation management, and freight cost reconciliation.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including data tracking, reporting, and analysis.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across internal teams (Purchasing, Sales, Finance, Operations).
  • Proven ability to manage relationships with international freight forwarders, customs brokers, and carriers.
  • Ability to clearly communicate shipping status, risks, and timelines to internal stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously.
  • Proactive problem-solver with experience handling complex international shipping challenges.
  • Ability to analyze freight costs, transit times, and service performance to drive continuous improvement.
  • Highly organized with strong documentation control and recordkeeping practices.
  • Understanding of import/export compliance, audits, and record retention requirements.
  • Commitment to maintaining compliance with international trade laws and company policies.
  • Ability to work and commute in all weather conditions

Nice To Haves

  • Experience shipping to or from multiple global regions (Asia, Europe, Latin America).
  • Knowledge of HTS classification, duty drawback, and free trade agreements.
  • Customs Broker License, Certified International Trade Professional (CITP), or related certification is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Execute and coordinate international shipments across ocean (FCL/LCL), air freight, and containerized cargo from booking through final delivery.
  • Prepare, review, and submit international shipping documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, HTS classifications, and customs filings.
  • Work directly with customs brokers and freight forwarders to ensure timely clearance and regulatory compliance.
  • Track international shipments daily, proactively identifying delays, customs holds, or carrier exceptions and driving resolution.
  • Manage container logistics, including booking, drayage coordination, tracking, and timely return to avoid demurrage and detention charges.
  • Coordinate domestic LTL, FTL, parcel, and expedited shipments, ensuring on-time delivery.
  • Enter and maintain accurate shipment data within ERP/TMS systems, ensuring visibility and traceability.
  • Review freight invoices for accuracy and resolve billing discrepancies with carriers and brokers.
  • Communicate shipment status, delays, and corrective actions to internal teams in real time.
  • Maintain organized shipment records in compliance with audit and record retention requirements.
  • Follow established SOPs while identifying execution-level improvements to reduce errors, delays, and costs.
  • Maintain a book of core Logistics and Brokerage firms for domestic and international that can meet our needs as well as be competitive in price
  • Compare rates quarterly of active book to outside companies to ensure we are receiving industry standard rates or below
  • Ensure carriers are maintaining SLAs and providing an excellent customer experience.
