We seek an exceptional individual to join our team as the Lead Locksmith. The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to inclusivity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness. Under the supervision of the Director of Residential Facilities Operations, the Lead Locksmith performs a full range of duties, including the installation, maintenance, inspection, modification, remodeling, and repair of manual and automated locks, door openers, and door hardware. The Lead Locksmith cuts and issues keys and maintains accurate master key logs. Ensures equipment functions properly and maintains a safe and clean working environment. The position requires thorough and accurate accounting of time, materials, and timely completion of routine assignments. Follows up on all projects and tasks to ensure completion to the satisfaction of the supervisor or manager, maintains a responsible attendance record, punctuality, and consistently meets deadlines. Work is performed in a manner that supports and facilitates the efforts of Housing Facilities Services and the broader university community, while fostering positive and cooperative working relationships with department staff and campus partners. This is a key position supporting campus safety and security in alignment with the university’s mission, vision, and values in higher education. The Lead Locksmith serves as the campus expert on electronic locking systems and regularly interacts with the campus community. The role requires strong teamwork, initiative, and ownership of responsibilities while maintaining flexibility to meet operational needs.
