About The Position

The Lead Laboratory Technician provides support to overall product quality by supporting the efforts of the Quality Manager, Production Engineer, and Quality Technicians through analytical and technical expertise. This position is responsible for completion of advanced tasks such as instrument calibration, maintenance, and basic repairs when possible. The Lead Lab Tech will be a technically skilled individual that will conduct the majority of the lab work for continuous improvement projects, rework testing, manual auditing of quality paperwork, validation of new reagents and equipment, and troubleshooting related to new processes. This role will provide coverage for gaps in staffing and will be available for callouts for instrument issues that cannot be repaired by the Lab Tech on shift. The Lead Lab Tech will be responsible for training newly hired technicians and for training on New Product Introductions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field, with 2+ years of quality or chemical plant experience preferred.
  • Must bring strong safety leadership, team leadership, and technical/analytical skills, with proficiency in SAP and solid computer skills.
  • Requires strong knowledge of quality systems, especially ISO 9001 and RC 14001, and the ability to learn Supply Chain and New Product Introduction processes.
  • Strong communication, training ability, time management, and critical-thinking skills are essential.
  • Familiarity with quality control tools and methodologies, along with preferred DOT training.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day QC lab support, including advanced testing, method development, instrument calibration/maintenance, and complex troubleshooting.
  • Execute SAP QM transactions, manage inspection plans, and support rework testing to ensure final product quality.
  • Participate in internal/external audits (ISO 9001, Kosher, RC14001), investigations, NCR/CAPA activities, and customer complaint resolutions.
  • Support New Product Introductions by validating new methods, implementing new workflows, and performing related QA/QC test work.

  • Uphold EHS requirements by conducting operations safely, disposing of waste properly, reporting non-compliances, and participating in site safety initiatives.
  • Train new lab technicians, support technician progression, retrain staff on method changes, and assist with troubleshooting during shifts.
  • Participate in continuous improvement by completing MOC documentation, supporting QC improvement projects, and validating alternative reagents/equipment.
