About The Position

U nder general supervision from the principal and district Response to Interventions (RtI) coordinator, collaborates with administrators, instructional coaches, school counselors, school psychologists, parents, and teachers to identify struggling students' needs and learning styles Identifies evidence-based interventions and methods to monitor student progress. Collaborates with teaching interventionists and provides materials and support for Tier II and Tier III interventions, as determined by the Response to Intervention (RtI) Team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in education with a minimum of three years of teaching experience preferred; or equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
  • Valid South Carolina teaching certification to coincide with grade levels to be taught; preferred areas to include teaching and service (school counseling, school psychology, school social work or leadership)
  • Obtain or actively pursuing the endorsement required by the Read to Succeed legislation.
  • Must have current government issued identification
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Lexington County School District One Board policies.
  • Must be able to access reliable transportation.
  • Knowledge of the policies, procedures, and activities of the school district which pertain to the specific duties and responsibilities of the position.
  • Knowledge of school policies, procedures, and operations.
  • Ability to demonstrate proper maintenance, safe operation, and utilization of equipment, materials, and supplies used in daily activities.
  • Ability to maintain high standards of accuracy in exercising duties.
  • Ability to anticipate work to be completed and to complete work without the need for direct supervision.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of employee and student records and information.
  • Ability to interact and communicate in an effective and professional manner with supervisors, co-workers, teachers, students, and the general public.
  • Personal computer experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheets, electronic file management, the internet, and reporting and presentation software.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community.
  • Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication.
  • Ability to apply knowledge and current research and theory.
  • Ability to organize and implement a flexible work schedule in order to meet reporting deadlines.
  • Ability to self-monitor and manage multiple tasks while working individually and with members of a group.
  • Ability to submit all requested reports and documentation in a timely manner and in accordance with scheduled deadlines.
  • Computer literacy required.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Assists in identifying student academic and/or behavioral needs and school-wide trends based on multiple sources of data.
  • Monitors and assists in testing of individual students and in school-wide testing in accordance with district, state, and/or federal laws and policies as required; specifically participates in progress monitoring and benchmarking procedures as required by the RtI program.
  • Responsibilities include management of benchmark and progress monitoring data, the preparation of materials, scoring of assessments and data entry in web-based applications.
  • Develops and monitors the implementation of individual, small group, and whole school intervention and prevention strategies to increase the likelihood that students will stay in school and graduate.
  • Organizes, schedules, and leads Response to Intervention Leadership Team meetings to include reviews of individual student data, assisting in identifying system-wide issues, assisting in the development of system-wide intervention plans, and assisting in identifying and dismissing students to RtI program.
  • Ensures the smooth provision of interventions to at-risk students experiencing difficulties in academics and/or behavior.
  • Collaborates with teachers, administrators, guidance counselors and other educational personnel in identifying and implementing appropriate interventions for Tier II and Tier III based upon individual student needs.
  • Plans for and instructs individual students and small groups of students identified through the school's RtI program.
  • Regularly sets academic and/or behavior goals for students aligned with progress monitoring data.
  • Communicates with students' parents on their caseload prior to and throughout Tier II/III placement to address rationale for the program and parent concerns and questions.
  • Develops, reviews, and updates Enrich plans for current caseload (Tier II/III students).
  • Develops and facilitates academic and behavioral professional development activities for school faculty.
  • Prepares various records, forms and reports as required.
  • Coordinates the purchase of needed RtI materials � to include curriculum resources, office supplies, educational tools, etc. for intervention groups.
  • Effectively uses personal computing devices and software applications for the management of student records, instructional efficiency, and professional development.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
