Advanced technical position that provides clinical expertise and education to the interventional department, to ensure that a high-quality, cost-effective product or service is delivered in support of the health system’s strategic plan, and the functions’ according to the policies, procedures, philosophy, goals and objectives. Operates digital equipment and performs complex invasive procedures by positioning patients and preparing contrast media to perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to assist the physician in diagnosis and treatment. Comprehensive knowledge of anatomy and physiology. Works with contrast media, chemotherapy agents, radiations agents, cement, resins and embolization agents. This position may require performing procedures in other departments such as O.R. Cath lab of multiple imaging modalities. This position is clinical/100% non- administrative and provides oversights for off-shifts. May require call as needed.

Requirements

  • CT State Radiographer License.
  • ARRT and or ARRT VI (vascular Interventional) Certification or cardiovascular (CV).
  • CPR certification.
  • Basic life Support (BLS).
  • Graduate of Accredited program in Radiology.
  • Minimum 1-year acute care Interventional Technologists.
  • Experience with PACS and digital Technology.
  • Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions and effectively communicate information.
  • Basic computer skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are necessary to communicate with departments, employees, physicians and managers.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize.
  • Ability to handle different patient populations including difficult patients.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates or Bachelors preferred.
  • 2 years leadership experience preferred.
  • Secondary language preferred.
  • Knowledge of cross-section anatomy preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with protocol management, coordinating patient flow/scheduling, works closely with nursing supervisors to coordinate patient care, and ensuring department coverage and modality scheduling input.
  • Operates IR equipment to produce accurate images while maintaining sterile technique. Assembles sterile trays and assumes scrub duties as necessary. Accurately documents procedure performed. Verify correct orders and relevant history in the patient’s chart.
  • Performs diagnostic and therapeutic interventional procedures by selecting the correct exposure factors utilizing the assessment of patient age, pathology and diagnosis to produce technically accurate digital images to assist the radiologist in diagnosing. Work with students
  • Accurately inputs procedural information into electronic medical record, RIS and PACS to capture necessary information regarding exams, supply charges, resource allocations, radiation exposure as well as all relevant clinical information.
  • Obtains all relevant patient information, including but not limited to, current lab values, medication usage, ensuring reason for exam is concordant with exam request in order to perform the appropriate exam, on the correct patient, to procure an accurate diagnosis.
  • Explain procedures to patients and address their concerns. Utilizes ALARA principles and appropriate infection control techniques to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Assists with incident resolution, emergency preparedness and maintains clinical proficiency and annual health stream. Participates in the department quality, safety and compliance initiatives
  • Actively involved in employee engagement, onboarding new staff, and performance evaluations. Participate in department meetings as needed and Lean daily management huddle boards
  • Appropriately maintains exam rooms, supplies and equipment according to performance standards. Maintains area support and reports equipment malfunctions. Performs and documents quality assurance testing on equipment according to established protocols to maintain high performance of the system. Transports patients as necessary. Acts as a Super user in all Imaging and IT systems.
  • Demonstrates competencies, including knowledge and behaviors to meet age specific patient needs (e.g. Pediatric, Adolescents, and Geriatrics) and cultural diversity. Works effectively as team member within the department and other units to provide quality service through pertinent knowledge, communication, cooperation and collaboration. Work to supervise Radiology students and new hires as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
