About The Position

Impact EMS Training is seeking a clinically credible and instructionally strong Lead Instructor, Critical Care to serve as the primary instructional leader for our advanced and critical care education portfolio, including FMP, Ventilator Management, FMP+, and related offerings. This role is responsible for delivering high‑quality instruction, ensuring learner comprehension and clinical competency, and maintaining instructional excellence across both asynchronous and in‑person learning environments. Reporting to the Director, Continuing Education, the Lead Instructor plays a dual role as both senior faculty and program steward. In addition to teaching, this position provides mentorship to new and adjunct instructors, supports curriculum development and continuous improvement, and helps ensure consistency, quality, and compliance across Critical Care programs in alignment with CAPCE standards and Impact EMS Training’s educational mission.

Requirements

  • Strong instructional and facilitation skills grounded in adult learning principles.
  • Demonstrated clinical expertise in critical care transport and advanced prehospital medicine.
  • Ability to mentor, coach, and provide constructive feedback to fellow instructors.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills across virtual and in‑person settings.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to quality, consistency, and compliance.
  • Comfort with educational technology, including LMS platforms, virtual delivery tools, and CRM systems.
  • Current paramedic or equivalent advanced EMS certification in good standing.
  • Significant clinical experience in critical care, advanced life support, or transport medicine.
  • Prior experience teaching EMS, healthcare, or clinical education courses.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching CAPCE‑accredited courses preferred.
  • Instructor certification and/or curriculum development experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the instructional lead for Critical Care courses, providing guidance and oversight to contract and part‑time instructors.
  • Mentor and support new instructors through onboarding, coaching, and modeling of instructional best practices.
  • Coordinate instructor staffing needs in collaboration with program leadership.
  • Serve as the lead instructor for Critical Care courses, delivering content through asynchronous instruction and facilitating in‑person skills labs and simulations.
  • Create an engaging, learner‑centered environment that supports adult learning and mastery of advanced clinical competencies.
  • Facilitate hands‑on skills sessions and scenarios while ensuring student safety, professionalism, and adherence to clinical best practices.
  • Evaluate learner performance and provide timely, constructive feedback to support competency development and successful course completion.
  • Coordinate with contract instructors to ensure appropriate staffing and instructional coverage for scheduled courses.
  • Mentor adjunct and new instructors, reinforcing instructional standards and consistency across course offerings.
  • Participate in instructor training, calibration, and professional development initiatives.
  • Assist in reviewing, updating, and refining course content, assessments, and skills scenarios to align with current clinical guidelines, CAPCE requirements, and adult learning principles.
  • Collaborate with the Director, Continuing Education and the CAPCE Education Committee to identify learner challenges and implement academic support strategies.
  • Participate in curriculum planning meetings and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of attendance, evaluations, and student progress in accordance with program policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Track student interactions, issues, and progress using designated LMS and CRM tools.
  • Support quality assurance reviews, audits, and reporting activities as needed.
  • Represent Impact EMS Training professionally at workshops, conferences, partner agency events, and industry engagements.
  • Serve as a positive ambassador for the organization’s mission, values, and commitment to excellence in EMS education.
